• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The first shall be second ?

so the animals that produced the eggs came before the eggs they produced - wincam

You didn't ask about "animals", did you? Your question was specifically about chickens. How about you start yet another thread to discuss animals versus eggs?

What do you call this?

Genesis 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Genesis 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

What do I call this? Sky, heaven or firmament, which is different from air. Both Hebrew and 1600 English have the word "air" and it was not used here.

Then what's this, chief:

Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

What are they using for aerodynamic lift? Hydrogen?

And please do be specific with your reply.

I want to know exactly what, in your opinion, they are using, else I'll go with "air."

That's quite simple, the people that wrote that had no idea what lift is. That passage does not describe "aerodynamic lift", not by a long shot. If they thought there was something there, they wouldn't describe it as "open". Saying that something is flying in open space is far from acknowledging the presence of air.

Again, if they wanted to say anything about air, they would have used the word air, like they did here:

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

That's only 26 verses into Genesis. Yet, there is no mention before that of God creating air.

And by the way, your passage reminds me that the Bible puts birds in the same place as the sun and the moon.

Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

Were they supposed to?
That passage does not describe "aerodynamic lift", not by a long shot.
Well, I'll be!

I typed "aerodynamic lift" in my Bible search engine and guess what?

It's not found in the entire Bible!

In other words, what's your point?
If they thought there was something there, they wouldn't describe it as "open".
It looks like you won't either.

In fact, it looks like you won't even describe it as "air" in 2013!

And you guys wonder why I call you e-scientists?
Saying that something is flying in open space is far from acknowledging the presence of air.
Here is your original question:
Why does Genesis mention the creation of water but not the creation of air, which is much more important?
Here's my answer:

Author's choice.

But here in 2013, six thousand years later, if you don't know it's air ... well ... you know what's coming, don't you? ;)

I'll bet you're one of those:

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

You tell me, you brought it up.

My point is that you cannot use "aerodynamic lift" as Biblical evidence that Genesis says that God created air.

It looks like you won't either.

I think it's just because you like calling people names, but that's just my opinion.

Here is your original question:

Here's my answer:

Author's choice.

You could have said that the first time I asked instead of going into aerodynamic lift.

But here in 2013, six thousand years later, if you don't know it's air ... well ... you know what's coming, don't you? ;)

And I guess your "three" heavens are all made of air, right?

As per your entire post above (where you clearly say that heaven = air), we have air between here and the edge of the other universes.

Here, back at you:

But here in 2013, six thousand years later, if you don't know [that heaven] it's air ... well ... you know what's coming, don't you? ;)

Text inserted in bold is mine to avoid pasting entire response. So, I am sure you will understand if I take your heaven=air reasoning with a pound of salt.

Didn't you just say heaven = air (and tossed an insult in there just for good measure), or is someone else using your name?

Yes ... and I can't get you to say it either, can I?

You're too smart to tell me what birds were using for aerodynamic lift in Genesis 1.

Unless ... could it be?

You believe things were different in Genesis 1?

You know.

A different state past before the split?

Well, that's probably because birds were flying millions of years before genesis was written.

Unless ... could it be?

You believe things were different in Genesis 1.

A different state past before the split?

Nope, I believe things were exactly the same, you can leave that for your friend dad.

By the way, nice try, but you didn't really address my point. "Heaven" cannot really be the same as air (as you implied with your insulting video) because, as you repeatedly said, there are 3 heavens, and most of them are outside our atmosphere.

Woooow ... so ... um ... let's say you're right.

Then millions of years later -- in the days of Genesis 1 -- what were they using? Hydrogen?

You do believe in a distant state past, don't you?
Nope, I believe things were exactly the same,
Doesn't sound like it to me.

And which heaven are we talking about, Cab?

First, second, or third?

Do you remember?

Of course I do, but you obviously don't. We are talking about the word "heaven", which you equaled to "air". In case you forgot, here is your description when I asked you what was "heaven":

But here in 2013, six thousand years later, if you don't know it's air ... well ... you know what's coming, don't you? ;)

Now, I get it, every time the exact same words "heaven" or "firmament" are mentioned, they mean different things. If "firmament of heaven" is where birds fly in, then it means air. If the very same "firmament of heaven" is where the moon and the sun are, then it means space. I guess this is one way of ignoring the inconsistencies of the Bible.

Your approach to hermeneutics is to "X a Paragrab" -- and you're finding it doesn't work, aren't you?

Context is getting in the way, isn't it?

If birds fly in First Heaven, which I explained ends 62 miles up, what do you suppose populates 2nd Heaven, which ends at the outer boundary of outer space?

That's right.

The sun, the moon, the stars, etc.

The Bible doesn't call it first heaven, does it? That's "creative" interpretation in your part. And you get mad when theistic evolutionists interpret the Bible in a way that makes it compatible with evolution. "Colorful" interpretations are fine as long as they are yours, inconsistency at it's best.
