  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

One of the New catch phrases going around is
("Law without Grace is Legalism and Grace without law is lawlessness")
This makes no sense to me in the least and I think it show a huge lack of understanding. Could someone try and explain to me how Law can have Grace and still be Law? Honest question.

I don't think the saying means that the law itself has grace, but that we show and receive grace while still following the law. If we feel we must only dispense grace and not stick to the law, we are lawless.

Of course, any time you distill things to a single sentence, it's gonna be oversimplified... I'd rather say that we respond to God's grace by learning His ways (which includes the law) and remain willing to extend grace to others. Still, the law is behind how we view life and the situations we face.

(Two sentences, maybe a little more clarity in them? LOL)

In Psalms 119:29-30, he wanted to put false ways far from him, for God to be gracious to him by teaching him to obey His law, and he chose the way of faith by setting it before him, so this has always been the one and only way of salvation by grace through faith.

Torah means instruction in Hebrew. I think we're better going with the original language and working from there... God gave us instructions for living here on Planet Earth. The 10 Sayings (10 Commandments) are indications of the optimal ways to live with God and others. The rest of Torah is further instructions, plus insights into human behaviour. And the rest of the Bible (Old and New Testaments) refers back to Torah over and over. It's all useful for teaching us and equipping us to live in the best ways, as Paul stated. Our obedience means we'll want to pursue the best ways, and in so doing, we will be following the Torah - not to save us, since Jesus did that work already, but as a response to God's love and a desire to emulate/imitate Jesus.
