  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bishops. Waiting to see what the other guys do. Then, boldly leaping into action!

And getting it wrong. Again.

The Bishop of Erie Pennsylvania is not to be confused with his predecessor, the Erie Bishop of Pennsylvania, Donald Trautman. Although, they both seem challenged by accurate translations. More on that, below.

The Bishop of Erie, has attempted to restrict ad orientem celebration of Holy Mass. It’s some kind of fever that they have, manifesting symptoms of profound confusion about Latin, the loss of the use of logic, and probable fear of “Rome”.

Here’s the “decree”.

This might be separating the sheep and the goats. We'll know the good bishops when they hold fast and allow the TLM and ad orientem NO's and other good things like that to persist in their jurisdictions.

I agree! With human history, it's ok to judge a book by it's cover, because human history does change.
But when we're getting into Church history, we have to remember two things:
1. God is Perfect.
2. Man is imperfect, struggling to become one with God.
That's why we always have to go back to the Beginning, and see how practices have changed, ( or failed!) as we try to understand and emulate what God wants.
