Hi folks, this trailer for the Fantastic Four reboot was released today:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_flR9_6msik

I've been skeptical of this movie ever since details about it started emerging. The news sounded worse and worse. But I have to say - the trailer impressed me.
I think that mainly has to do with the fact that it's not shot found-footage style; I was 100% expecting it to be. The production value doesn't look cheap at all.

But trailers are designed to look good. And plus, this isn't The Fantastic Four. The tone, color palette, everything is just so... dark. I feel like you could replace the title and characters' names with anything. But, Fox gave the X-Men a dark tone, why not do it to the FF too.
Anyway, I'm still not sold on this movie. Trailers hardly represent the quality of a film, plus some of the other details they've mentioned just don't sound good.
But the trailer piqued my interest which caught me off guard. Who knows.

Yeah, Marvel movies seem to stick to a certain feel to them regardless.....I love them all and will definitely see this one.

I think the only exception to that would be Daredevil. That movie suffered for many reasons, not the least of which was Ben Affleck's portrayal.

Note to Batman fans...

Looks good. I like Marvel movies, so I will go see this one.
This is a Fox movie based on Marvel characters. (Same for the previous FF movies and Daredevil)

There is a difference in the movies made by Marvel Studios and what other companies produce, so don't expect it to feel like the Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Avengers, or Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

I will wait and see on this one...

I still like Marvel movies.

There was a thread on this movie here when it was first announced. The general consensus offered little hope it would turn out well. The trailer at least raises the interest level. I grew up reading Marvel comics and the FF was one of my favorites. I hope it turns out well.

Even given the reboot hasn't been released yet I still believe Jessica Alba was the perfect Invisible Woman.

I didn't think the first two FF movies anywhere as bad as some said. The characters I thought were well played.

I loved both of the FF movies and thought the casting was great! I read those comics years ago as a kid and the characters' personalities were pretty accurate to the original writings. I believe Stan Lee was always part of the production of any marvel movie and provided guidance and direction when it came to character details and such.

I was able to meet him once in a comic convention in SD when I was a kid and got his autograph on a comic book.

I grew up reading my big brother's collection of Fantastic 4 comics. The movies they already did were terrible for me, hated them.

At least it looks like this movie may have Ben actually looking like rock/stone and not a dude in a rubber suit.

I liked the last two Fantastic Four movies when I first saw them as a kid. Watching them now is sort of disappointing but I don't think they're that bad. I liked the cast.

Other than that, I've never really been interested in the F4. I have one, single comic of theirs and the reason I didn't buy anymore was simply that I didn't care enough to. Lol. My comic knowledge of the characters has mostly come from Avengers and the annual world-spanning crossover events.
So I really don't have a lot invested in this movie either way. I just wanted to see Galactus or Dr. Doom (or most of their villains really :p) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Which can't happen now :|

I think the first 2 FF movies were "OK." The casting was good, the action fine, the script...eh. Lacking in various ways, esp in character development. The end of the 2d one was pathetic (I'll avoid spoilers).

This one looks horrid. Pretentious as bleep, caving in to the "oh you have to be really dark and 'edgy' for people to like it - just look at Batman!!" idiocy, and so on. And don't even get me started on the politically correct to the point of dry heaves BS of making Ben Grimm black. I can't help wonder if they made Luke Cage white how much the PC nazis would wail.

I don't like the look of this movie, when I think of Fantastic Four, I think of Mr Fantastic relying on science teamed Thing's brute strength, Invisible Woman powers, and Human Torch's power of flight and combustible powers being used to solving strange anomalies, thwarting cosmic threats such as Galactus and his various heralds, and a battle for supremacy with Dr Doom who jealously despises Mr Fantastic.

It is my understanding that this movie is inspired by alternate verse Ultimate Fantastic Four in which the members are all much younger than they are portrayed in the regular comic title. I've never read the Ultimate titles and just going by what I have heard said.

This movie looks absolutely terrible, and what about Doom, he is getting another butchering. Dr. Doom is one of my favorite Marvel villians ever:

Watched this movie in theater with my friend. We both love this movie.

Thank you for posting. It looks like the reviews have been mainly negative. It's good to hear from someone who has seen the movie and enjoyed it.

Went to see this movie last Friday and...

Understand please, I grew up reading Marvel comics and as an FF fan I wanted this movie to be good, to succeed. But I was terribly disappointed. Much of it consisted of a series of montages filmed inside of what looked like over-sized boxcars. There was little action, the final fight projecting all the excitement of an afterthought. I didn't like what was done with Thing, the notion of the military turning him into some rock-hard special ops mob like enforcer. Kate Mara proved what was said about her back when first cast, that she can't act her way out of a paper bag. Or in this case a floating force bubble.

I think the fatal flaw in the movie was the decision to total reboot. In this case the origin story was one which did not need to be repeated, particularly given the writers decided to alter the origin story. The Negative Zone came later in the comics, and whereas the Negative Zone would have made for an effective setting just going there to get zapped was a waste of potential. And what did Doom eat while stuck over there all that time?

The film was not completely without merit, it was better than Showgirls. Not to mention most of the sheer crap which pours out of Hollywood. But as a movie featuring Marvel characters it was a complete failure. Only Ghostrider II was worse.

But that is just my opinion I could be wrong.

Sounds even worse than I figured, so glad I'll never see it. lol @ Thing a special ops guy. Bad enough that they change the orig story/characters but then do such a silly job with it. Sigh. It seems they just can't do these characters justice (tho I thought the first 2 were OK, even pretty good....except for the very end of the 2d).

I try to be optimist about newness, but not at the expense of the past.

I remember the launch of the Batman movies and none of them came close to my vision of Batman until BATMAN BEGINS hit the theater. That was one movie where a revision was necessary, since the others sucked. I'm not too sure it wasn't the fact that they were so bad that prompted the remake.

I also remember the new Star Trek movies by J.J. Abrams that were really bad and the last one was a very poor remake of a great movie called The Wrath of Kwan. I was literately sorry I even paid the price to set through that thing. The fact that the new Iron Man movie was playing in the same theater, was the only thing that saved the day.
