"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6)

So, God does want us to please Him. I think this means we can personally please God while we do things. We do this mainly by becoming more and more like Jesus who is so pleasing to God. It is not about making gestures religious and with money or how we tone our voices while praying.

"rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:4)

And diligently seek God for Himself. And in seeking Him submit to how He personally rules each of us with His own peace in our hearts >

"And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

And actively keep seeking Him for His correction > Hebrews 12:4-14.
