This happened at a nearby daycare and has left the people in the community shaken......
"...Some of the children quietly hid as a gunman killed a female teacher Friday afternoon at a Cape Coral daycare. Others witnessed the horror, splattered with her blood. None of the children were injured.
There was a monster and then we went in the bathroom to hide, 3-year-old Jasmine Morano said as her mother held her tightly. The teacher said to be quiet.
Morano said she heard firecrackers.
The monster, alleged shooter Robert Harold Dunn, 44, was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree felony murder , according to police. The victim was Christine Lozier, 36, according to Cape Coral Police Department spokesperson Dyan Lee.
Police responded to calls reporting an armed gunman at Bobbie Noonan's Daycare Center, 1217 Cape Coral Parkway, at 4:42 p.m. The center was open and operating with children in the building.
"That's the best daycare in the world with the best people taking care of them," said Sue Deems, grandparent of twin girls who she picked up from the daycare after shooting. "I'm just crushed that one of them is gone."
Upon arrival, officers heard two shots from inside the building. After entering, officers arrested Dunn and found Lozier dead. She had been shot more than once.
