I honestly don't know if this is an appropriate thread on this section. So I apologize if it isn't.

But I am curious, how can people say that the Holocaust never happened, especially Christians like Pastor Steven Anderson? It doesn't make any sense. The evidence is right there. You have video clippings from the concentration camps. You have pictures from the Holocaust. And of course you have the testimonies of people who were actually there and their markings which prove that they were there.

I just don't get it.

It just seems to me that no matter how much evidence is provided, if people don't want to believe something happened or something did not happen they will believe it no matter whether there is evidence or not.

Most deniers (and they should be anathema and discredited) do not believe that it did not happen, but rather that the amount of people murdered and tortured is far lower than the numbers believed. This is obviously farcical as there is plenty of evidence against them, but they cite some sort of conspiracy generally.

Folks who deny things that have boatloads of evidence to support, likely have some personal strong psychological need they have to feed.

Generally speaking, evidence does not equal proof.

An archaeologist could point out a shard of pottery found buried in the desert sands of the middle east with the names "Jesus, Joseph, & Mary" written on it, and say "Look, this is clear evidence Jesus was real!". On the other hand, a boy could've merely been practicing his writing skills on that shard of pottery.

But it is evidence that meets the burden of proof. There are different standards of proof. In US law, civil cases need only be proved by a preponderance of the evidence, while in criminal cases proof must be beyond a reasonable doubt. In the case of the Holocaust, the evidence that it happened and for its scale constitutes proof beyond all reasonable doubt -- in fact, beyond all but bat-crap, talking-to-people-who-aren't-there, got-something-wrong-in-the-brain-pan unreasonable doubt.

The simple fact is, different people hold to different standards of proof when it comes to individual viewpoints.

He doesn't deny that the holocaust happened, he just denies the numbers they claim. He doesn't think it was really 6 million, he thinks the number is much less.
