  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Donald Trump’s evangelical base does not appear to know this.

“Go out into the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

How much easier can it get when people are coming here to escape oppression. Yes, better monitoring is needed at our borders, because we must protect our land. But if we’re not going to them, God is bringing them to us because we know about Him, and they need to know about His son, Jesus, and the importance of what he did on the cross to bring us into the body of Christ.

Yes, we live in our beautiful communities and enjoy the blessings of prosperity, but what do you think is more important to God? Our isolation from those we perceive as less than us, or the work He has commissioned us to do?

“He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.”

Once saved does not mean always saved. “He who endures to the end shall be saved.” Sadly, there will be many who will get to the end only to find themselves in the chaff section.

Faith, obedience, love. God’s people are not white people or black people or latin people or asian people. God’s people are spiritual. Flesh cannot please God.

Let us all get back to the Father’s business.

Could you state clearly, WHAT you think that the Evangelical problem is?

Also, WHO you think is an Evangelical?

Sharon Hayes: “Our isolation from those we perceive as less than us …”

There is a need to control our borders and it has little to do with looking down on anyone. Let me give you a story from personal experience. Years ago, I applied for a job with a good sized company. I was an American, living in the United States. The Personnel Director liked the looks of my resume, so he set up an interview with the person I would be working for. In this interview the man was from Pakistan. He asked me three questions, none having anything to do with my professional qualifications.

The three questions I was asked:

Are you married?
Do you live with your parents?
Are you an American?

I didn’t get the job. It’s not a question of being nice to foreigners. They are hiring and firing us, and they don’t hesitate to apply their prejudices.

Then I wouldn’t be casting my vote against the murder of innocent children.
Two choices (although both are a matter of one's opinion):

1. Against the "murder of innocent children"
2. Against the "destruction of the constitutional republic"

Meh....I choose neither.

To me one is far more important than the other. One is contradictory to the moral law, the other is contradictory to a worldly law.

I get that and I've been there.
