Since the Catholic Church is currently everyone's favorite fodder, I thought a change of pace was in order. Here is a link to a critique of Smith's works and doctrines.

*Usual disclaimer: I mean no disrespect toward Smith or his denomination. I am only attempting to open a discussion of their beliefs and how they can be biblically defended.

Revenge is very unbecoming of a believer. I boycott this thread starting now.

That article sickens me.

I disagree with Chuck Smith on a pre-trib rapture, but he is my brother in Christ and I am not going to stand over him in judgement and proclaim:

I'm sorry, but saying something like that just goes against everything Scripture.

What revenge? Are we not allowed to discuss beliefs of other faith traditions besides Catholic? It's you decision to participate or not. Are you of the Calvary denomination?

I don't know about that, but can you address the substance of what they are saying? Does Chuck in your opinion teach biblical truth?

The threads I started were never for revenge, or to debate in a heated manner, however they turned out. But by your own words on this thread, and another one of mine, it is obvious that revenge is the motivator here. I don't agree with the catholic doctrine anymore. But I have many good friends that are catholic. We go back and forth, but anger is never an issue, neither is revenge.

Shame on you Veritas! How dare you consider criticising a non-Apostolic church! Only those churches that hold fast to the constant beliefs of the entire Christian community for many, many centuries are to be discussed in such a way that might suggest they have doctrinal errors...I thought that much was obvious. If something is a modern invention that is utterly in opposition to the teachings of the Apostles then clearly it is beyond criticism! Besides which, it wastes vital energy needed to regurgitate lies about Catholicism.

The story from that link is just another man's opinion and is therefore meaningless. There are two sides to this issue. One side is from those who claim to know God and the other is from those who truely know God.

As Chuck is the Patriarch of the Calvary Chapel denomination I think he needs to take responsibility at the very least for the false teachings of his 'Bishops' WRT not only the RC faith, but also the EO faith.

Who are you to accuse them of false teaching? Thay believe that their doctrine is sound just as you believe that yours is sound.

Read again what I wrote:

I'll state this plainly. They lie about our faith. At the least, they need to repent of this. I have issues with much of their doctrine, but I am talking about false witness concerning what they teach about ours !

I dunno' - it seems to me that the Cavlinists have been the ones taking it on the chin in here in the past couple of days. What were the threads? "What do you think of Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Calvinists?" and "How can we get Calvinists to repent of Calvinism?"

I think there's definitely enough criticism in here to go around for everybody. You guys do tend to get more than your share, though.

Your sister in Christ,
Grace

goes round and round.. never ends.. do you think we could have a normal peacful thread??? I have seen the same words over and over again.. my best laugh was this morning.. when someone was really saying bad words against all faiths/religions... it was at a point that was LOL.. I gave up.. no more bashing any love for God.... This is all who post threads, basically knowing before they post, what it would lead to.. not just this one... and they think they catch more flys with vinegar...

Folks, I'm not even saying I agree with the author of the link. Clearly, I have major disagreements with Calvary Chapelism and Chuck Smith (who never misses an opportunity....well documented I might add, to attack the Catholic faith) but so do other Christians. This is what I'm getting at. This may be one man's or groups opinion, but theirs are just as valid as the next man's. Yet, I have not heard one cogent defense of Calvary's doctrines. Are their teachings biblical?
