Tomorrow, Tomorrow

everybody knows which way you go straight to over no one wants to see you inside of me straight to over
I heard the hammer at the locksay you're deaf and dumb and done give yourself another
talkthis time make it sound like someone
the noise is coming out
and if it's not out now
then tomorrow, tomorrow
they took your life apart and called you failures art
they were wrong though they wont know 'til tomorrow
I got static in my headthe reflected sound of everything tried to go to where it led but it didn't lead to anything
the noise is coming out
and if it's not out now
I know it's just about to drown tomorrow out- Elliot Smith, "Tomorrow, Tomorrow."

Oh I am excited, excellent thread!
I love listening to "live at the Black Cat"
My favorite song is "angeles" beautifully written, beautiful guitar.
Of coarse, Miss misery is good, but after watching "Good Will Hunting" 1,000 times, its kind of annoying. lol

more lyrics!....

Miss misery..

I’ll fake it through the day
With some help from johnny walker red
Send the poison rain down the drain
To put bad thoughts in my head
Two tickets torn in half
And a lot of nothing to do
Do you miss me, miss misery
Like you say you do?

A man in the park
Read the lines in my hand
Told me I’m strong
Hardly ever wrong I said man you mean

You had plans for both of us
That involved a trip out of town
To a place I’ve seen in a magazine
That you left lying around
I don’t have you with me but
I keep a good attitude
Do you miss me, miss misery
Like you say you do?

I know you’d rather see me gone
Than to see me the way that I am
But I am in the life anyway

Next door the tv’s flashing
Blue frames on the wall
It’s a comedy of errors, you see
It’s about taking a fall
To vanish into oblivion
Is easy to do
And I try to be but you know me
I come back when you want me to
Do you miss me miss misery
Like you say you do?

Angeles..

Someone’s always coming around here trailing some new kill
Says I seen your picture on a hundred dollar bill
And what’s a game of chance to you, to him is one of real skill
So glad to meet you
Angeles
Picking up the ticket shows there’s money to be made
Go on and lose the gamble that’s the history of the trade
You add up all the cards left to play to zero
And sign up with evil
Angeles
Don’t start me trying now
Cos I’m all over it
Angeles
I could make you satisfied in everything you do
All your ’secret wishes’ could right now be coming true
And be forever with my poison arms around you
No one’s gonna fool around with us
No one’s gonna fool around with us
So glad to meet you
Angeles

sweet, another Elliott Smith fan, yes! hehe. i was listening to Waltz #2 and now Ballad of Big nothing right now. i absolutely love this song.

hey it's pretty cool that there is another ohioan out here that likes Elliott Smith. i have only ran into one person that likes him so far. i bought the album after XO, "Figure Four", and the guy at the counter of this cd place, him and i got talking about Elliott Smith. that was when i found exactly how he committed suicide. wow, saddening, because his music is just so good. yes, it is depressing at times, but the way i look at it is, it is realistic, hehe. well look forward to more posts on this. plus much props to the fellow ohioan that likes Elliott Smith! where at in ohio you at out of curiosity? (no i'm not a weirdo, just starting conversation.)

God Bless! <><

Ballad of Big Nothing

throwing candy out to the crowd
dragging down the main
the helpless little thing with the dirty mouthwho's always got something to
sayyou're sitting around at home now waiting for your brother to call
I saw him down at the alley
having had enough of it all

said you can do what you want to whenever you want to
you can do what you want to there's no one to stop you

all spit and spite you're up all night and down every day
a tired man with only hours to go just waiting to be taken away
getting in to the back of a car for candy from some stranger
watching the parade with pinpoint eyes full of smoldering anger

you can do what you want to whenever you want to
you can do what you want to there's no one to stop you
now you can do what you want to whenever you want to
do what you want to whenever you want to
do what you want to whenever you want tothough it doesn't mean a thing, big nothing.

I live just west of Cleveland. I love Ohio. Though, I enjoy the country more than the city. But thats the cool thing about Ohio, couple miles outside the city, and you find yourself in the country! lol. My brother has XO, I shall give it a listen.
How did Elliot kill himself? Did he stab himself? I think that is what I heard

coolio. i live just about an hour south of Toledo. i never thought i would be back in ohio. i moved out to Portland for a short stint, and it surely didn't work out, and i moved back to ohio. i'm liking it more now. it's not a bad state after all, hehe. i've never really lived in the country. i'd like to someday. i've just never had the opportunity to basically. always been a city folk, hehe. i see positives on both end. but the idea of being on the outskirts, and being able to get to the city life seems like a great deal there. but then sometimes, i would probably miss being able to walk downtown, or go down to the city, by the river without driving, hehe. but that's me. i like being in big cities at night, by the river. just the light of the city and the river, is so cool to me. the last one i was in Cleveland it was like. some old friends of mine and me went to see Evanescense at the downtown they were throwing right by the river, ahh it was great.

from what i heard with Elliot Smith's death is he stabbed himself in the heart. what a way to go. slightly twisted romantic way of going, (and i'm not making good thoughts of suicide here), but just such a sad thing. with his drug use, then to the suicide, just a sad way to live and go out. i'd like to know more about his life, to maybe give some understanding to maybe why he chose that ya know.

Yeah, living on (by) the lake is pretty cool. My favorite thing to do in the city is go to an Indians game. Jacob's field is really pretty. The fireworks shows are awesome around the fourth of July, downtown. Although I havent seen a show there since the 7th grade! Come post in the Ohioan thread, its has just about the coolest people around :) Were did you see Evanescense?I'm guessing at the amplitheater, I think thats right on the river.

That is awful. :( it is a shame.

yea, it was the amplitheater i think. right by the river and outside. it was a great time. they had the juiliana theory, Evanescense, and some other bands. great time. Cleveland seemed like a cool town. i've only been there 2 times. one time for the concert, and the other time when i was really little. my dad took my friend and i to see the yankees and the indians play, well the game was sold out, so we went to the zoo instead. here soon, my mom and i are planning a trip over there for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. but Cleveland seemed like a pretty cool place.

wow, album? that's a hard one. i think there are so many awesome songs on all of them. i want to check on some of the very first album that i haven't heard.

i really like Figure Four. but XO is phenomenal. i'm going to be checking out like i said, the earlier stuff. have a lot of time on my hands for awhile, and his music is just great.

ironic though how i ran into his music. my ex-g/f, told me about his music. and we're broken up now, but i remember through the breakup stage. some would be pretty surprised how his music can get you through a bad time. but Elliot Smith was a realist if you ask me. but anyways, i'm rambling again.

as the best album, that's hard for me to say, because i like so many of his songs. as i get some of his first albums, i'll be keeping you updated with what i think and stuff, just another's fan opinion :)

Candice,

Elliot Smith is a singer. He commited suicide in 2000 (I think). His music can be depressing at times. What stands out most is his song lyrics and his voice. Girls love that voice. :) (espically in "Angeles", your heart will melt when you hear him sing..) If you have ever seen "Good will Hunting" then you have heard Elliot before. His most popular song is "Miss Misery" If you want to check him out I would suggest Either/or or "Live at the Black Cat" (my personal fav)

if i'm correct, didn't he die last year? around the end of October from what i read from the report. sad, really sad that he ended his life. put a knife through his heart. he struggled with drugs from what i've read about him and such, but nevertheless he wrote beautiful music. it's true, his music is rather depressing at times, but he put it in a beautiful way. very worth checking him out!!!

i know that song too, but i couldn't remember the name, but i found it on a lyric site. that song is "Waltz #2", of the XO album. i'm listening to "Speed Trials" right now.

for some reason, i have really been in the mood for his music.
