I don't think I've heard anyone at a pregnancy center state that Christians would be glad to take the babies if the mothers carry them to term, and you don't really know what would happen if we all made that stand.
It might show the world the same thing it showed the world 2000 years ago...pagans are the same today as they were then.
Actually, Roger Williams was a foremost evangelist to the Indians of his day--he went "out there" more than anyone else...hardly an isolationist.
He also was the first American Abolitionist and founded the state of Rhode Island...no isolationism going on there. But he did found Rhode Island specifically as a state that would allow total religious freedom.
Here was his point: When the government makes it socially advantageous to be a Christian, and makes it difficult on those who are not Christian, then people who don't really have Christ in their hearts will necessarily pretend to be Christian. And indeed, such a government will always, always, always end up operating against Christ. He had 1200 years of history to prove his case, and his case continues to be proven to this day.
So his point was to let Jesus' words and the words of the apostles be true: Jesus' kingdom is not of this world and we are pilgrims and sojourners in it, not natives.
I was responding to the "garden of the church and the wilderness of the world" comment. For hundreds of years people have been dedicated to the Church, sometimes forgetting that Jesus should be the center of our universe. Now we are seeing what has become of the Church. It is becoming the wilderness as much as the world because of compromise. Perhaps the Baptists have not changed and even though holy means "separate" it means to separate yourselves from the evil of the world, don't get involved in alcohol, pornography, adultery, crimes, etc. I'm glad you clarified the life of Roger Williams. But it doesn't show him as a passive leader so I don't think that we should be passive. If we are passionate about something like abortion, we should stand against it. If we are passionate about evil in the government we should stand against it. Suppressing the instincts God gave us concerning right and wrong and pretending to be something we're not will only make us unhappy in the end.
I'm older and became a real Christian later in life when many things became clear to me. My values changed and reading and studying the Word changed me. Soon after, I found out that I had stage IV cancer and have been on chemotherapy ever since. I read about a movement going to Washington, DC in May to demand the resignation of the president and others. It will be a peaceful demonstration without any weapons present. The talking heads in the alternative news are against it after encouraging the American people to stand up for their rights. Then when something is planned they don't like it. They say that it will turn out like Kiev and people will be killed. I suddenly was overcome with the ability to separate my country from the evil that leads it, from the socialist/communist takeover in progress and maybe it's because I'm older but I really don't care if I were killed in such a demonstration. If it would have any effect on the American people to change, maybe even to turn back to the Lord and ask Him to save our country, I would do it. I felt an overwhelming love for my country. I don't know, however, if I will be able to make the trip there due to a lack of stamina and they are saying that people will have to be willing to stay as long as needed and I know I can't afford that. But I am thinking about it. Many Christians say we are not to get involved in that kind of thing but I'm going to pray about it. If President Lincoln hadn't gotten involved in the secession, we'd be two countries now and only God knows if there would still be slavery around or if the industrial revolution would have taken place when it did. Some say it is a trick by those in power and not to fall for it so I have a lot to pray about before May.
