The History Channel aired a show on The Egyptian Book Of The Dead. It discussed the possibility that the ten commandants and the Qur'an came from the book of the dead. Was this a case of trickle down theory and the Jews and Muslims adopted these for their own use?

I watched that and found it interesting that my view of Christianity being we are given the gift of life and then if we are loving the gift of eternal life but if unloving left to our own mortality and a destiny of oblivion is very similar to the world view of the ancient Egyptians.

I always found the Egyptians to be very interesting and everything. Many religions do have the same morals as thoughts as Christianity though. I believe the Bible to be unique as God's word. The book of the dead might be similar but it isn't the Bible.

I looked up the Egyptian language though. It is really tight.

It's possible. But its also highly possibe people came up with law codes independent of eachother. I mean really, the BoD list contains laws found in almost any society i.e. don;t steal, commit adultery, murder, etc. combined with laws specific to their religion as do the Mosaic law and hammarabi code to a lesser extent. Not exactly something requiring cultural borrowing to do. But the Hammarabi code, this and mosaic law just don;t sound all that similar to me, the religious/cultural laws are quite different.

I think its that "after this, therefore because of this" fallacy at work.
