The Dutch having issues, for real!

I have friends in Holland and they told me about some of the things legal there. Prostitutes pay taxes like everyone else, have their own union, and if one wants breast implants, the government pays for it - anything to improve the economy is paid for by the government, so if a prostitute says that implants would "improve her company" (the way the government sees it - you're the boss of your company, your body is your company, and the product you're selling is sex), they pay for it. Apparently "high-class" prostitutes can make thousands a week, and buying/selling sexual services is seen as a business deal. Street prostitution is still illegal, but brothels, call girls, and "window girls" (they rent a small apartment with big windows and stand in the window wearing lingerie, waiting for men to come up and make a "deal") are allowed. My Dutch friends support legal prostitution, yet still say "but I wouldn't want my daughter to become a prostitute".

I have a friend who has visited Holland, and she told me that at news stands and magazine racks, the porn is out front and the newspapers are in the back because more people buy porn than newspapers. So people who want to buy a regular newspaper have to dig through the porno mags to find it. She also told me that abortion in Holland is paid for by the government (though in Canada it is too, unfortunately).

As for child porn and pedophilia being legal, I'm honestly not surprised (though I am extremely disgusted) that people are pushing for that, considering that Holland is one of the most "sexually liberated" countries in the world. And people think I'm being unreasonable and bigotted when I say that legalizing gay "marriage" will eventually lead to stuff like this...

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg , when she worked for the ACLU, also advocated lowering the age of consent to 12.

Justice Ginsberg and an associate at the ACLU went on to say:

“Replacing ‘Mother’s Day’ and ‘Father’s Day’ with a ‘Parents’ Day’ should be considered, as an observance more consistent with a policy of minimizing traditional sex-based differences in parental roles .

“Prostitution, as a consensual act between adults, is arguably within the zone of privacy protected by recent constitutional decisions.

Well, a lot of the stuff that you've observed is true, but it predates the gay marriage movement. If anything, the causation went the other way.

I think it's unfair to say "The Dutch having issues." It makes it sound as if all Netherlanders have "issues." If you're going to phrase it like that, then you'll need to say "The Americans having issues," as well. In America, we have Ginsberg and NAMBLA, for starters.

I honestly used to feel a little bigotted, considering that I have known some great gay people, about the whole gay marriage ban thing. But after reading this, now I see that it becoming a slippery slope isn't just a overactive theory. The slope is already slippery, and we need to do something about it before we're no better then animals when it comes to sex.

We are part way there. During the confirmation hearings of John Roberts, Senator Charles Schumer and others who had supported Ruth Bader Ginsberg, said Roberts was "out of the mainstream". Ginsberg' radicalism is mainstream to more than a few in America.

Then we have ethics Professor Peter Singer of Princeton, praised by the New York media and Hollywood, who has very percular ideas of the what human/animal interactions are moral.

It is unfair as some have said above, to single out the Dutch. The barbarians are not at our gates, they are inside.
