If it is easy never to commit sin, it is easy never to have an impure thought, never to say an unkind word, never to think negatively about your neighbour. It is easy to always, without slip love all those you come into contact with, including those who persecute, malign, slander you etc.

Some peoples idea of what sin actually is, is very shallow

For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other so that you do not do what you want

The thing that concerns me is this. When people state it is easy never to commit sin, a humble and trusting individual may read the comment and then be overcome with guilt and despair. For they are only too painfully aware of their shortcomings. They don't need to be made to feel even worse.
For if they do believe such comments they may even start to doubt whether they are saved. They may mistakenly believe the only true Christians are those who find it easy never to commit sin.
I know I don't always respond in the perfect manner, but as I have said many times. My concern is for those who may be crushed by people exalting their own saintlyhood

Thank you for your kind words.
You know, I loved my Late mother dearly, but she was part of a mantra that believed it was easy not to sin etc.
I used to watch her when she had people round for coffee mornings. She couldn't be herself, I'm sure neither could her visitors, it had to be a pure act. I actually felt sorry for her.
People have to put on an act before others when they follow a doctrine of nigh on sinless perfection to be justified for heaven.
I always yearned, and longed to meet ordinary Christians who didn't have to put on this act. They could just be themselves. For me it is wonderfully refreshing to see after my childhood

Righteousness comes from obedience; Obeying your Lord.

It's called the obedience of faith.

• But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: Romans 16:26

The work that justifies [declared to be righteous] is obedience.

• Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? James 2:21

You will never convince anyone that people who are disobedient are righteous.

Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 1 John 3:7

• He who practices righteousness is righteous.

This principle of righteousness is reiterated over and over throughout the bible.


The doer of the word is righteous, not the hearer, but the doer of the work.

• But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 1:25

Indeed, many would not have considered Abraham righteous.
He went to Egypt, lied to Pharaoh by saying his wife was his sister. And when Pharaoh took her unto his palace to be his wife, Abraham said nothing, just accepted the gifts Pharaoh gave him

These people who insist you are righteous by what you do/ your works not faith in Christ, keep following after the flesh.
In reality they are saying:
Look at me I am righteous because I do many good works and obey the moral law. You must attain to where I am at.

And the way we live according to the Spirit is by the indwelling of the Spirit. We received the indwelling of the Spirit by believing the Gospel...Christ and Him crucified. We are than born again under grace and not the law. It is all the wonderful work of God. Through the Spirit, we are given gifts. We are righteous like He is righteous when we love Christ and love the brotherhood as He commanded. This is what Christ taught from the beginning.
