  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

would love to know what others thought of the film and did they read the book as i took no notice with the book. .

Loved the book! Wow... it was fantastic. I hated! I SAY HATED the movie. It was so bad. I love Tom Hanks and and all but common..... satan was at work.
In what way? Did the movie portray anything differently than the book?

I loved the movie. We watched it the day after we got back from Europe. We saw so much in the movie that we have just visited lol. We were like Oh we were there 2 days ago and I have a photo of that or sheesk I wish we had gone there etc.

I started reading the book after I saw the movie and I loved how the movie at the begginning seemed to really follow what was in the book. I didnt get very far in the book though, so I can really comment on it. I know a lot of people were disappointed in the movie who read the book. But I giuess it might just be the same as all the harry potter fans out there who gets annoyed by the movies. The book generally tends to always be better than the movie.

I did enjoy the movie.

cheers ;)

i take a much more intollrant vew, i am mostly filmilayer with the book and an awsome documentry , even though i am aware of the lies and the fiction , people like my dad actualy belive that Jesus had a kid ect ect .

then other people with even less knolage than me on the subject go about preaching it as if it were truth !!!

it reminds me of the verse that Jesus said about leading children astray , that it was better for them to dround at the bottom of the ocean .

Imagining God getting his freak on with one of His creations isn't "open minded" it's raw and insulting.

Dan Brown has been pushing that the theory is fact which irritates me even more, he's cashing in on God. If God doesn't mind it then he would have left us the "tattler", not the "bible"

I also found it very scary as a new christian that it could flaw non believers way of thinking my mother believes it all. And the debates that we have now regarding the bible and jesus i find sad that i have to fight for our lord, but there is the truth, jesus said we will have to be alone and fight as he did.

The grail has only recently come into the public view because of Mr Brown's book. There are dozens of accounts and theories as to what the grail is. One story says that a Queen from France was out taking a stroll when a fish jumped out of a river and impregnated her...(get the symbolism, a fish?)

Another says that Lucifer before the fall, had a crown or diadem that he wore with a Lapis Luzi (blue stone) in it. When the war in heaven broke out, Michael struck at Lucifer with his sword, but only managed to hit the diadem, knocking the stone loose. The stone fell through the various heavens, landed in the abyss, and it was from That stone that the cup, or grail was made that Jesus drank from at the last supper.

It would seem to me that Mr Brown picked the variation that would invoke the biggest emotional response and curiosity of Christians, and non Christians alike.
Any publicity is good publicity.

I thought it was a very well done movie and I enjoyed it. Will be getting the DVD as well. Plus, the ending was fantabulous, which is rare for me to say such cause I usually hate the way movies end.

I find the theological debates surrounding it funny and frankly, a waste of time/breath. The book and the movie are works of fiction. Just like Left Behind is a work of fiction. This one is just more controversial. And I'm sure that if anyone believed it to be true, they would be instantly set strait when they go to ask questions about it in the church. So I don't worry too much about "losing people".

I don't think Dan Brown is that good a writer- skipped parts to get to the end. The movie was mildly entertaining but I noticed they dummied it down so as not to offend as many people.
I got on a forum somewhere when the book was new, and as a Christian was HORRIFIED at how many people took the book really seriously (along the lines of "It made me question my faith...") Why would anyone take sprirtual advice from Dan Brown?
