  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was able via absentee ballot.

But after I set that up, I learned about Americans Abroad and registering with them. I also learned that I could vote at the US Embassy where we are. That is cool. We can't vote for all the local things but can for major things like President, Senators, and Congressmen.

Could be. If he wins, I strongly suspect that he will commit a crime, or violate the constitution, or get impeached. And a resultant Democratic wave in 2 and 4 years will be yyyyuuuge.

I would be surprised if America comes out of four years of a Trump dictatorship unscathed. I know I am being cynical but I am still in shock that so many evangelical Christians and conservative leaders elected that man to be the next president.

I think it is terribly revealing.

Or be prosecuted for crimes already committed.

I hope he'll take the office seriously and not try to rename our country "Trump's America." There is always the possibility that he will retain good advisors and actually listen to them. I don't want President Pence.

I think he's going to chafe under the constraints of government office. Private sector people often don't realize that the rules are different. Of course, he'll probably try to deregulate as much as possible - good for the foxes, bad for the chickens.

He will have to respect the rule of law. And it is more of a job than he knows. Look how it ages people.
Time will tell.

I remember a time when evangelical Christians and conservative leaders were so indignant and offended over Bill Clinton's sexual immorality and scandals while he was still president. In fact, many of them still talk about his scandals today. But look at the man they just elected as their next president. I think that by voting for him, they willingly chose to turn a blind eye to every single offensive thing he has ever said and done, especially concerning women. That in itself is truly troubling. I think it is, like FreeinChrist said, terribly revealing. It is truly disheartening that Donald Trump, being what he is, could be elected as president.

Why do you believe that Trump will have to respect the rule of law.

He will appear in count in Nov and Dec. If he or his companies are ever convicted of anything, he can pardon the convicted.

I don't think he can pardon himself or his own companies.

The December thing was dropped by the victim because of threats. I don't want a Pence presidency. Too much damage could be done. Trump is a wildcard who may not do what conservatives all want.

But then he plans on Pence being responsible for foreign and domestic policy

Trump's morality is fully acceptable to Republicans and other evangelicals. That's just the way it is.

Of course he can. His companies will be "in a blind trust". Of course, for Trump that means that one of his children will run the show. But, it would never get that far. As Trump well understands, the president and his Justice Department have considerable discretion with regard to who they prosecute. BTW, congrats on getting Giuliani as Attorney General. It could have been Christie, but now that might await his pardon.

I don't think the defunct trump university will be in a blind trust. In fact, he will be walking an ethical tightrope if his kids run the company, as if he will not be involved.
That is why I figure he will get himself into trouble before long.

And that Trump U case is not in the DOJ. Besides, it is under Obama until Jan. 20th.
