  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Da Vinci Code doesn't necessarily try and disprove the Christian religion. It's a fictional book, after all, but it does have a lot of interesting history in it that is true.

I'd reccomend it to anyone, believer or non-believer.

I also do not like the fact that Langdon will be played by Tom Hanks... I just can't picture it. I could see Harrison Ford or Dustin Hoffman doing it, but not Hanks.

No, it's a movie based on a book of the same name. The book is a complicated story about art, murder, secret societies, and certain things "they" don't want you to know about the Bible, Jesus, etc. Much of it is based on real things that happened it Christian history, more of it is based on conjecture, and the rest is just outright fiction that uses some historical facts as a backdrop.

I read it last year. I cannot imagine Tom Hanks as Langdon though! Wow! I think they should've used an unknown actor.

It doesn't really disprove Christianity but there are some parts in the book that tries to change the popular view of Christianity.

I couldn't see Tom Hanks doing it either...until I saw the trailer. It works. I hope. I saw him in the trailer and went "Ok, I can see that happening." As long as his acting is good (which is usually is!) then I won't have a problem with him doing it.

Langdon isn't that old, after all, and Tom Hanks looks young, but old at the same time. :)

Nope, I paid for it and I am not selling it to anyone.
You ever gave a book away?

I thought they had in the fine print for these e-books that they are purely intended for the reading purposes of the person who bought it. They shouldn't be freely distributed. Anyway, whatever you want to do.
