On one level I did enjoy it. The CGI was pretty outstanding in my opinion. I'd give it a 3 because of the overtly obvious political message (the VP looked like a Cheney clone) and the completely and utterly ridiculous wolf scene. I mean, do they expect us to believe that somehow they survived that enourmous wave, and then survived the icing over of NY?

I didn't think it was all that great, there were a lot of holes in the plot... like why they burned all the books instead of the imminently better and more available tables and chairs, and they wouldn't have had the moral dilemna about which book to burn/not to. :p

I thought it was an okay concept, but there didn't need to be a movie based on it, especially not with dennis quaid in the lead role. :p

It was terrible. But funny. Unintentionally funny. I laughed my way through the entire thing. You know there is a serious problem with the movie when the audience bursts into laughter when the character's fire goes out and they could die. The wolf scene was stupid...it was all stupid and I didn't like the actors at all. It was such propaganda and not even very convincing propaganda. An ice age that takes over in a week's worth of time? People walking from Pensylvania to NYC in said Ice Age? Whatever.

I think John Cooper of Skillet said it best in this interview with Carolina Concerts.

It’s like movies that have a message. Sometimes you might watch a movie and you go ‘I really felt like there was an underlying theme in the movie.’ Or I like it better than when I see a movie and I feel like they’re preaching at me. I don’t like that. It dorkens it up. (laughs all around) Dorkens…is that a word? It dorks it up. You know, it’s like they try really hard. Did you see that…you know what, don’t even need to get into it. All right, we do. Did you see that newest end of the world movie where they’re all snowed out?

Ben: The Day After Tomorrow?

John: Yeah. Dude, it’s one of the worst movies ever. I’m going to ruin the end of it for you because it’s so pathetic. Don’t even rent it. It’s not even a cable movie. Like the end of this movie basically the whole northern hemisphere is freezing over. Everybody’s evacuating the United States going down to Mexico. At the end of the thing they’re doing news reports and they’re like ‘For so long, the doors that have held people out from America are being opened up.’ It’s like they’re making this big message.

Ben: Yeah, I heard it was overtly political.

John: Yeah, you’re like, you know what? It would have been ok if I left going ‘oh, that’s really funny.’ But you don’t want somebody knocking you over the head with it. You’re just going ‘I can figure that out on my own.’ It really bugs me.

Benji: All right, we don’t need to see that movie now.

John: Was that what this interview was about?

Benji: Yeah, it was all about that movie! And you’ve ruined it.

John: (Laughs)
