I'm always fascinated by really awful people who get caught, wind up in prison and then suddenly discover the wonders of faith and God.

Wouldn't it be great if God were able to inspire people to belief in him without them having to commit some horrific crime and hurt other people before they came to know Him?

My other favorite demographic are extremely pious religious people who couldn't help but break the law because money is so good (like Kent Hovind, for instance) or because drugs or illicit sex are something they really like (Ted Haggard, Jimmy Swaggart).

So atheists should write a book on what their absolute morals are, and stick to that. If your morals are whatever you want, then you have no morals.

Maybe you should write up your absolute morality that justifies
making up ugly falsehoods about people

That's either sadly uninformed, or provocative trolling...

A moral compass is part of being human (except for psychopaths/sociopaths), part of our evolutionary history. It is moulded culturally, and religions attempt to manipulate it to their own ends - with no great success.

Crime and other social ills tend to be higher in more religious societies, but this may be, in part, due to religion being more popular in socially deprived areas, nevertheless, it appears that religious societies tend to fare worse than secular ones:

"The correlation is clear and strong: The more secular tend to fare better than the more religious on a vast host of measures, including homicide and violent crime rates, poverty rates, obesity and diabetes rates, child abuse rates, educational attainment levels, income levels, unemployment rates, rates of sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy, etc. You name it: On nearly every sociological measure of well-being, you’re most likely to find the more secular states with the lowest levels of faith in God and the lowest rates of church attendance faring the best and the most religious states with the highest levels of faith in God and rates of church attendance faring the worst.

And guess what? The correlation holds internationally, as well." Secular Societies Fare Better Than Religious Societies | Psychology Today

Perhaps that is why atheists commit suicide so much.
More likely the depressing result of being a despised minority in most religious societies and having to put up with religious privileges and irrationalities.

The (honest) interview is always the same:

Q: "So... when exactly did you find Christ?"
A: "About three minutes after the cops found me; they loaded me into the back of the squad car, and there he was..."

I don't need to write up my own religion. I have the Bible as my absolute morality.

The ugly falsehood is the topic of this thread.

So the bible somehow tells you that it is upright
and good to concoct falsehoods.
Good confirmation of the truth of the thread title.

I don't sign up on atheist forums and troll them all day on the dangers of atheism. You people come here on a Christian forum, and have the nerve to rant about the dangers of creationism and the evils of Christianity and the Bible, and the mods let you do it.

And if I try and defend our religion, on our own forum, from you, who are guests of another religion, you act like I'm a bigot.

All you do is start arguments just for fun. That's called trolling. This thread topic shouldn't even be allowed. KJV only-ism is banned, yet "The Danger of Creationism" and all your anti-Christian, anti-God, anti-Bible insults are allowed. Why? Does the site owner have a soft spot for atheists and a hatred of the KJV?

Don't you people have anything better to do with your lives than troll Christians night and day? Is this the highlight of your life? The apex of entertainment for you?

People take their frustrations at God out on His children.

Matthew 21:37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.

Of course, that was in reference to Jesus, but the principle is the same.

If His begotten Son is treated that way, His adopted son(s) will be too.

Reminds me of the saying:

There are no atheists in foxholes.

Few that will admit it, anyway.

...which means we have to differentiate between the genuine conversions to Christ, and those who will say whatever they have to to get what they want at that particular moment.

God, being God, surely knows who's being sincere and who isn't. The question becomes, does He care about sincerity?

Jesus says He does. Matthew 7:21
Paul says He doesn't. Romans 10:13

That doesn't really explain it, as we are all God's children

...or are we?

No argument there.

No, we are not.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

(That happens to be my signature verse.)

Lol, the Danger of reading your Bible and believing it? You know that there are all kinds of things in scripture that aren't possible according to science, correct? Like a man coming back from the dead. Maybe you think that was a conspiracy theory too, but it's the most basic tenet of Christianity.

Evolution has been the BASIS of giving to us abortions and the Holocaust, along with KKK, so how dangerous is it then?

Kind of throws a spanner in your "adoption" analogy, then... Does He adopt us, or do we adopt Him?
