Jesus Christ is the merchant man.
We, that is the church, are the pearl of great price.

Jesus wanted us so bad He sold everything to buy us. Hebrews 12:1-2, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
In the eyes of man we are worthless, but not so in God's eyes. We had nothing to offer, but Jesus saw pearls whereas all we saw was worthless sand.
