That word for "lay" is the same Greek word for "bowed" in John 19:30
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
While Jesus was ministering, He had nowhere to lay His head. On the Cross, He found the place to lay His head.
