The daily battle

Siting above me an Angle waits to protect.
Crouching before me a Demon waits to devour.
A fight to protect my soul..

Temptation inside that overpowers me,
the Demon takes control.
A sad heart that leads to repentance,
the Angle’s strength unfolds.

I watch the TV for hours without end,
the Demon slips in again.
I read my Bible and pray,
the Angle chases him away.

I pass by a person in need,
the Demon smiles with glee.
I turn back to help them,
the Angle shines a grin.

I tell someone a dirty joke,
the Demon laughs.
I tell them about the love of God,
the Angel attacks.

I look at a woman with lustful eyes,
the Demon whispers lyes.
I turn my head and look away,
the Angel wins today.

I fill with anger and begin to swear,
the Demon has me by the hair.
I cry with sorrow that knocks me down,
the Angle pins him to the ground.

I raise my hands and praise my lord,
the Demon shutters.
I raise my hands and praise myself,
the Angle stutters.
