  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The creation of an evolutionist.

Hi All,

Well, after reading this utter nonsense from a YEC on another forum:-

YEC nonsense said:
Since, they say, evolutionary changes were able to cause all diversity that we find in life, then 'evolutionary' changes are also responsible for bringing about EVERYTHING that exists today --- stars, galaxies, planets, life, consciousness, mind, emotions, art, technology ............ e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g! Evolution has become THE creative mechanism, almost an Entity of its own. THAT 'evolution' is like the 'Force' in the Star Wars movies ...

I happened to come across the following at CARM:-

”In my wanderings across the interwebs looking at creationist vs. evolution material, I encountered an interesting blog owned by an evangelical christian. This man is a Naval Aviator and officer in the United States Navy who for most of his life accepted the YEC position. In the last couple of years, he found the gumption to critically examine his YEC position, and found it to be absolutely bankrupt. He now fully accepts an old earth and the reality of ToE, and he arrived there without losing his faith. There is a lot of information on his blog, very interesting to read. ...”

Here is the link to the blog:-

The Creation of an Evolutionist

An example of another YEC who went looking and was shocked to see what he found. And surprise, surprise, he abandoned YEC but forgot to turn into a God-hater.

My thanks to Tatanka_Maza at CARM for posting this.

I too, was once a creationist(back when I was 13). However, when it came time to learn the evidence of creation, I found the case they made for creation in private school's textbooks was severely lacking any positive indicators of creation and slowly over the course of a couple of year, I was discovering that the universe lacks and positive indicators for the Christian god.

Whenever I see the words "Went looking for...", I almost always think of the time the paleoscientists in Elisha's time went looking for Elijah and couldn't find him.

Their [wise] conclusion?

Elijah was right after all.

Herod went looking for Jesus when He was about 2 years old and couldn't find Him.

His conclusion? He was still alive somewhere.

I'm sure there was a Phase One search instigated for Enoch as well.

AV1611Vet,

"Truth above all things ... and orthopraxy before everything" is my motto. To paraphrase Malcolm X, "I didn't land on the truth ... truth landed on me!" I would hate to see you take my scientifico-theological journey, which has been enormously satisfying from a faith perspective, and reduce it to a few historical proof texts. I encourage you to visit my blog and take a gander. The least I could hope for is that you recognize that the acceptance of the fact of evolution is not a barrier to maintaining a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Alpha and Omega.

Best,

Hi Roland,

Having been away from CF for more than two years I hardly know, how things work around here anymore.

But good to see that you keep things going here.

Hi Mike,

"[T]ruth landed on me", you say. I know many other Christians who say the same (though perhaps with other words).

Going where the evidence leads you will lead you to Christ ... no matter how strange the way may appear.
