yeah i'll play I think the poem should of any poetry type that the writer wishes

I think the length should not exceed at least fifty lines. Too long and you have a monster to read.
Maybe it shouldn't be judged on theme, but on the other merits of a poem. This leaves theme up to the poet, but we need unbiased judging to balance this. The judge can't pick a poem just because he likes Sci-Fi over a walk in the park.

okay, this contest won't take off unless we stop debating over what to do.

So i'm changing the rules up a bit..

1. Poem should not exceed 50 lines.
2. Theme must be chosen before hand by poet.

What do you think?

I would really lean towards a single specific theme, since if it were to be left open I would sped 80% of the time actually thinking of a theme,

But its really up to you in the end

I'm going to butt in a little and suggest that you pare down the contest and limit it to 1 or 2 genres at most, and extend the deadline for each piece. I don't know about anybody else, but on further reflection, I don't think I'm going to have the time for quite that much writing. Just a thought
