Franken was hardly a hardcore liberal presence in his SNL days.Alarum said:Al Franken was on SNL for how long? I'd say he's been in the entertainment buisiness for quite some time - which is all that Talk Radio is.
Beats me. Seems like a waste of time, doesn't it? Who wants to fight it out with the conservatives trying to gain dominance of 19th-century technology?utdbear said:OK, then another question. Why do liberals keep trying?
TeddyKGB said:Whereas McCain is forceful yet confident and reassuring, Miller is just abrasive. Recall, he did challenge Chris Matthews to a fight on national TV.
I dunno. Rush made his name doing little more than bashing Clinton. Coulter does nothing but insult liberals anymore.

Well, one stupid action in front of millions tends to stick with you. Just ask Clinton.MethodMan said:And has been demonized ever since.
Maybe. Howard Stern had a colossal 12 years, but even he's losing steam. People who regularly evoke strong emotions eventually wear down even ardent supporters.Rush has been around a lot longer than Clinton. Will be around a lot longer than Clinton too. I know you fellas want to think that but Clinton has been outa office for near 6 years now. Still, Rush has 20 million strong audience.
Rush started during President George H W Bush's term. Clinton has been out of office for nearly 6 years. I know that Liberals listen to talk radio because many listen to Rush or at least say they do. Why is Rush still on top?TeddyKGB said:Whereas McCain is forceful yet confident and reassuring, Miller is just abrasive. Recall, he did challenge Chris Matthews to a fight on national TV.

I'm not disputing that. But doesn't it make more sense for the Democrats to concentrate on the Internet than a medium that most people only listen to when they're driving? What's the point?utdbear said:uh....we're not really trying. we already do dominate the radio. And the web.
No, we like books. But Bush doesn't, for some reason. Maybe we should start him off with something easy:utdbear said:Books are very 15th century, maybe that should be the next thing to drop off from liberals 'to-do' list, eh?
The internet? I don't see it. Drudge isn't what he was during the Clinton years, and left-leaning sites and blogs like Salon and DailyKos have taken off.utdbear said:uh....we're not really trying. we already do dominate the radio. And the web.

I am not saying it definitely will happen to Rush, just that long-term trends are sometimes hard to predict.MethodMan said:And libs have been saying this woul happen to Rush after Clinton left office saying his source of material just got term-limited. Where did he go from there? Yup - Senate Majority/Minority/Minority leader/failed-re-election Daschel.
Hard to say. Bushian conservatism is becoming a bizarre amalgam of liberal market tactics and far-right social religiosity. If a backlash is imminent, I'm thinking libertarianism is the new liberalism.Rush will be popular as long as Liberalism exists. Do you see it going away any time soon?
Rove is a better salesman than anyone gave him credit for?MethodMan said:One thing lefties ought to look at? How this dummy named Bush defeated them twice.
Democrats are certainly flunking politics 101 at the moment. In fact, who's the real dummies?
Twice? You really believe Bush was elected twice?MethodMan said:One thing lefties ought to look at? How this dummy named Bush defeated them twice. In fact, who's the real dummies?

Just remember Republicans the "MidnightBlue said:Twice? You really believe Bush was elected twice?![]()
We agree with the the Libertarians on about half the issues, which is a lot more than we agree with the Republicans.MethodMan said:Could be - But then you would have the big guns from both parties pointed at you. Just ask the Geens.
