CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hehe, the things we used to do.
I grew up in an area that was sorta half city half country. So we had about 5 acres with a seasonal creek on it, but we also had quite a few neighbors. Once after a heavy rain the creek banks were really muddy, and some neighbor kids were playing in it. My mom didn't like this because it made the ground all lumpy once it dried. So she asked me to ask them to stop. Being all of 12 years old or so, I was a little intimidated... so before I went out I strapped on my plastic toy gun, holster and sheriffs's badge to give a more "official" impression. It's kinda funny, but for some reason that incident is one of my most embarrassing moments to remember now.

Once, when we went to the deep end, I pretty much got saved by my younger classmates. We were suppose to hold our breath, stand straight, let go of the edge and experience floating. I ended up freaking out a bit and my classmates/friends pull me up and towards the edge. I still can't swim in the deep end -- meaning over 4.5' deep (I'm 5').

Perfect description....I had never thought of it that way, but that is how it feels! lol, the only chance I had this last year to get my Christmas shopping done was like 2 saturdays before Christmas and most of my shopping had to be done at the mall.
I knew beforehand that was a very, very bad idea, but surprisingly it really didn't bother me at all. But like you had said, I was totally focused on finding the gifts that I had in mind!

JPPT1974, don't feel silly. I'm 34 and I adore Veggie Tales. When I taught 2s & 3s at church a few years ago, once a quarter we'd have a party time, popcorn and movie. I always picked out Veggie Tales and I always wanted the kids to shush so I could watch the movie, since I was way more interested than they were.
I was introduced to Veggie Tales when I was about 28 at an informal singles group I went to, we watched Larry Boy and the Fib from Outer Space. I loved it and got hooked, especially laughing at the dancing lady cucumbers who had drop earings hanging from absolutely nothing. Well each time we got together after that, any time it was a movie night, they'd say something about watching Veggie Tales, I would get all excited and rooted for watching it. Then they'd laugh at me and tell me they were teasing. I fell for this like every single time. They loved teasing me.

Okay confession...is it really good for the soul, lol? Well I confess:
1. I don't like most vegtables, but I too LOVE Veggietales (waving at all fellow Veggietales lovers)
2. I hate crowds
3. I LOVE going to dinner and movies
4. I LOVE cheese (as long as it's on/in something. I can't stand it by itself...unless it's fried cheese sticks and has that dipping sauce...YUM!)

Hee hee. Speaking of cheese! I used to think "Chuck E. Cheese" was "Chunky Cheese." Still slip up and say it! I used to think Zorro and the Hamburglar were cousins. My uncle would pretend to pull off my nose (ever done that to a kid? not nice!) and I was SOO gullible I'd go look for it when he pretended to throw it.
