Hi my name is Mel, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I pray that you will be blessed by it. Any comments will be appreciated.

THE COMMON GOOD

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. [1 Corinthians 12:7]

God has given every Christian certain spiritual gifts to share with the rest of the body. Those gifts may not be preaching and teaching, but simply encouraging, giving or showing mercy to someone in need. Whatever the gift, the body needs you to exercise that gift and edify others.

To illustrate; the human body is a complex machine. It’s composed of more than two hundred bones connected with ligaments, tendons and muscles, allowing it to lift heavy objects and thread a needle. The largest muscle, the heart, pumps a river of blood through a maze of arteries, capillaries and veins. Nerve sensors in the ears can distinguish between the sound of a kitten and the cry of a baby. The brain stores, processes and recalls information like a computer, from birth until death.

Just as the human body needs all of the above parts to function properly, so the body of Christ needs every believer exercising his or her spiritual gift. In fact without each believer exercising his or her gift, the body is handicapped. Child of God you are needed. God called and gifted you according to His purposes. If you are not already serving where you attend church, then think of the gifts and abilities God has given you, and ask your pastor how you can serve. By exercising your spiritual gifts, you help build-up and edify other believers and glorify The Lord.

Let every knee bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
