  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is anyone else watching this show?

Its a neat show and a neat idea, but it seems a little unrealistic.

The volunteers have a massive factory with TONS of stuff (A lot of it doesn't seem like you'd find it in a single factory). Also, drinking from the LA river is suicide on a good day, the simple filter that they constructed doesn't seem sufficient.

Also, with the power generation, it seemed like they were going to massive pains to try and hook up some sort of engine to an alternator to generate power including some sort of arcane woodfuel generator. Why not just hook the alternator up to a bicycle or something of that nature? Even a simple steam engine would be much simpler than some of the stuff they were trying to pull together.

Very interesting show! The finale is next week - I think it's amazing how into the experience they all are, and I think there will be some culture shock when they are finally let back into the real world.
