Rented this last night.
It was a typical slasher masicist with the intent on making an innocent family suffer.
The whole movie was believable up until the end.
The ending destroyed the movie.
Spoiler spoiler spoiler--------------
The human monster turned into just another Jason/Michael.
Up to the point where the knife chandaler droppped on the monster, it was believable. From that point on, the monster beat a man uncontious,
ran through a field to his truck, hit the ambulance hard enough to make it roll over several times, drug and carried the man to his still drivable truck, and
stuffed him in the box. The box that was upstairs in the house, so he would have had to go upstairs drag it down and put it in the truck before the house blew up.
I really liked this movie until they went with this ending.
They never said why the family didn't go on vacation as they had planned.
They never said what the collector collected. He just tortured every person(except the young girl, who he did not catch.)
The alternate ending was stupid but alot more believable. (He flips off the young girl from the yard and walks away from the house.)
I would rate this movie a 4 out of ten. With a more believable ending, I would have given it a 7-8.(and not neccessarily a happy ending, just not a super human or someone that can not die.)
Much better ending would have been for the villian to drive off to mend his wounds and find another house to victimize. Keep him human, not invincible.
