You need to do the study of Jesus rebuking others. Then compare that with the Chosen and see if it matches.Sure but there are two ways to go about it. He was not like the demanding Pharisees in His approach
Sorry but the whole series so far is about the change (repentance) in the Chosen. Repentance isn't a magical flash. It requires first understanding of how we are backwards to the Kingdom, then the slow progression into adapting to a new lifestyle unfamiliar to our lives. They learned as they go.This is an example of the call to repentance. So again, the Chosen is unbiblical and will lead people to think they don’t have to repent when they are in sin.
We see Jesus recognize others seeking forgiveness with God in Luke 18:9-14, and Luke 15:11-32.Sorry but the whole series so far is about the change (repentance) in the Chosen. After watching some clips I see that now.Nothing shallow about this show.
The only sin there is is putting our will (based on self interest) ahead of the Father's will. That self interest creates all the 'things' we label as 'sin' while ignoring it's true meaningRepent means to seek forgiveness with the LORD with the intention that you will not do such a sin again.
Humbleness. No longer seeing our self will as sufficient. The Bible talks about how you can repent sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
Jesus says it’s not about rules on the Chosen when he is confronted about God’s laws. After watching some clips I see that now.
Well, first, your not addressing my points involving the Bible, and you are rambling on without any Scripture verses. Second, you are defending a sinful TV series that is clearly ecumenical. Are you ecumenical? The only sin there is is putting our will (based on self interest) ahead of the Father's will. I simply acknowledged that it's not as pop-culture superficial as I expected.Jesus says it’s not about rules on the Chosen when he is confronted about God’s laws.

Christian Forums is ecumenical.Well, first, your not addressing my points involving the Bible, and you are rambling on without any Scripture verses. Second, you are defending a sinful TV series that is clearly ecumenical. Are you ecumenical?
Compared to reading the Bible it is superficial and false. It downgrades the deity of Jesus Christ. It attacks the real Jesus of the Bible and replaces it with a false Jesus that many today like. There are even study guides you can get for the Chosen series. Just a show? Why are there study guides?I simply acknowledged that it's not as pop-culture superficial as I expected.
Not all posters here are trying to fellowship with everyone of different denominations and neither do all posters here claim they agree with the denominations of others. The interface and creators that make the platform may be ecumenical, the many Christians who use the platform are not all ecumenical. There is no rule saying you have to be ecumenical, either. In either case, at the end of the day, we have to see what the Bible says on such matters. Are you ecumenical? Do you see truth in Catholicism, Mormonism, etc. as just many branches that lead to the same destination? If so, what Bible verse or passage encourages such thinking?Christian Forums is ecumenical.
My opinion regarding that is seen in my longstanding profile quote:Compared to reading the Bible it is superficial and false. It downgrades the deity of Jesus Christ. The rule is all Christians have to agree to the Nicene Creed and in that regard there is ecumenicity. Personally I'd like to see more ecumenicity among Christians and less tribalism. Tribalism is contrary to 1 Corinthians 12:12-27.Not all posters here are trying to fellowship with everyone of different denominations and neither do all posters here claim they agree with the denominations of others. You are missing the point. We have a portrayal of Jesus and His followers not seeking forgiveness of God over their sin of drunkenness. Jesus did not rebuke them, and neither do we see them seeking forgiveness of the LORD. This is what needed to happen if the show was an accurate portrayal of even the basic essence of principles of Scripture. But it doesn’t even get that right because it is not really entirely based on the principles of the Bible. The show is presenting another Jesus with false messages.
But I am not surprised you don’t see it because you do not understand this basic principle in the Bible. Again, try reading Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:9, and 1 John 1:7 sometime in prayer to the LORD.
Make sure you have the Book of Mormon open to look for more future references. I am sure it is only a matter of time before we will see another one. Also, keep in mind the actor who plays Jesus has a huge Catholic following and he leads them into RCC practices because of his celebrity status because of the series. So as you act as if this Jesus is the real one, the actual actor is leading others into the practice of Catholicism when off screen. But hey, if one is Catholic, or ecumenical, I guess it does not matter.
This is what a Mormon said:
I was introduced to Dallas Jenkins through his now famous short film “The Shepherd”. It was a dry, hot August afternoon in 2017 when I received an email from VidAngel’s head of public relations, Matthew Faraci.
The email subject read only: “short film”. The body of the email was void of text, just a Vimeo link. Nineteen minutes later I was blinking away tears as I watched the credits roll on my old MacBook.
Over the next few hours, a flood of crazy ideas poured into my mind. Novel ideas that no film production had used before, ever. Without even having met Dallas, God had already inspired the basic path to raise the money we needed to turn this short film into a high budget TV series.
The next day I told my co-founder and brother, Neal, about The Shepherd. He dismissed it immediately, “shows about Jesus Christ are for churches to produce, not VidAngel.”
“Just watch it.” I responded.
Nineteen minutes later he pulled off his headphones and said, “this is why we made VidAngel.”
Three years later we have received hundreds of messages and letters from people upset that “Mormons” are part of this world-changing project. Likewise, we receive lots of skepticism from Latter-day Saints deeply concerned that we have given full creative control to Evangelicals, who they think hate us.
To both Latter-day Saints and Evangelicals I reply: if Jesus can call his ancient apostles from a range of backgrounds, including an apostate tax collector on the one hand and stubborn, illiterate fishermen on the other, why can’t he call Evangelicals, Catholics, Jews, and even Latter-day Saints to the creation of a TV series about His life and ministry?
I will probably see a thousand more messages from people telling me I am a “cultist” and that I believe in a “different Jesus”. I will certainly have many more Latter-day Saints refuse to trust the show because the message is controlled by Evangelicals. But one thing can be certain, they can’t diminish MY relationship with Jesus. He has redeemed me. And it won’t take away MY love for Him or THE CHOSEN. Hate or love, I am offering the gifts God has given me to help THE CHOSEN reach a billion people worldwide.
THE CHOSEN’s central image is a school of fish. Interestingly, Rabbi Sobel also once compared the series to a net, one that could gather all kinds of people (Matthew 13:25). In addition, John 10:16 states, “And other sheep I have which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.” God is going to “gather all kinds of fish.”
Finally, a unique thought from a Latter-day Saint perspective: I believe THE CHOSEN may well be, in small part, the fulfillment of a little recognized Book of Mormon prophecy. Let me explain.
Eighteen years ago, as a missionary ministering in Cork, Ireland, I was studying the Book of Mormon when 1 Nephi 14:14 jumped off the page with intensity.

But this is just mindless talk on your part. You are not presenting any Scripture to prove your case at all. This is because you cannot do so because there is no such Bible verse that aligns with your false thinking here. Se my recent post to you (Post #236). I post a verse that refutes this false thinking.
The Passion of the Christ 2004 as well. Mel Gibson is a Catholic. Plus there's other stuff to hold against him.I suppose next you'll be the censor for delineating exactly which "Jesus" movies or shows can be viewed by orthodox Christians. I suppose I'll have to pan any additional viewings of the old Jesus of Nazareth show I like from the 1970s because it has an RCC backing?

There are study guides!
That is incredible, agreed why would there be study guides for a show? WOW
