  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for this thread. :)

In reading stuff and talking about things with a friend, I had some questions about Charismatic Catholic churches and what people though of them, etc. and now I see there's a thread in OBOB about it. :) I didn't have much time to read it throughly tonight, but I just wanted to stop in and say thank you for the thread. :)

God Bless all of you!

Maria Esperanza de Bianchini, the famous Catholic mystic from Venezuela, was calling for twin churches to be established at Ground Zero... "What God wants to be revealed in that place are twin churches," she told Spirit Daily. " Two churches that resemble the towers but are churches, built there. That’s what God really wants. I know it’s impossible, and it’s a shame, but you never know. God wants two churches, twin churches, to be built there to save the world, because if they do that, if they built them, there would be many souls saved and the world would be saved – if they built two churches in that place."

Maria has added an important detail: that the churches be open to all faiths. She emphasizes that God wants all men to worship Him and His Son as one -- not as a New Age global religion, but as a resurgence of Christian unity. Thus, the churches should be ecumenical. Such is in keeping with the messages from Betania, the Church-sanctioned apparition site with which she is associated. At Betania the Mother of God came as "Mary, Reconciler of Peoples and Nations."

Such is also in keeping with repeated requests by the Pope for ecumenism, including a major plea from him last week, when according to Zenit News Service, John Paul II said that "the restoration of full communion among Christians is not only the duty of pastors and theologians, but of every baptized person... In virtue of the strength of the faith that unites us, we Christians, therefore, are obliged, each according to his own vocation, to restore full communion, precious treasure left to us by Christ," the Holy Father added in a firm voice.

In order to restore the lost unity, said the Pope, "it is necessary to cultivate among Christians a love that is committed to surmounting the differences. It is necessary to make the effort to overcome every barrier with incessant prayer, with persevering dialogue, and with a fraternal and concrete cooperation in favor of the poorest and neediest."
This is what the leaders of the Church including Pope John Paul II are proposing, if you want to call it 'new age' than so be it, But just as the passage says, it is not a new age global religion.

The question is, are we going to answer God's call? are we going to respond to the Pope's call?
I am with them. I am trying to get ready to steward the new call the Lord has for our church.

Irenaeus Brother, I understand your concern, it is a perfectly valid concern and question.
I will explain these things... But not tonight. I must go to sleep.
Thanks and blessings my Brother.

HoL,

I don’t see where your quote says we must change the Mass or that the traditional Mass is in need of Charismatic worship.

But again I ask, if you believe this, how come the papal Masses are traditional and not charismatic?
If the pope is charismatic and speaks in tongues then why not at Mass?

And EWTN, how come we don’t see Charismatic daily Mass from the poor Claires? Are they in need of reform? Are they not evangelizing? Do they not have gifts? Do they not posses the Holy Spirit? Is their cloistered life wrong to you? I mean they only run a network that goes around the world with the gospel while they live a contemplative life, hidden from the world? They need something more?

And finally, how can any Mass where the Holy Spirit is present, not be Charismatic IYO?

I have asked, and other as well, questions and you dodge them, please answer directly.

The Mass is in no need of any changes at all, HoL and you insult 2000 years of tradition by saying it does. God does not need anyone to be charsmatic to do what he will during the Mass.

I hope the Pope doesn't mean by "surmounting the differences" ignoring the differences.

I would think better of him.

And that Mystic, Maria, is not an infallible source. I heard once she prophecied a great Chastisement for last April that did not occur.

Yes, a mystic, not a doctrine makes.
