Psalm 15 New International Version (NIV)

1 Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?

2 The one whose walk is blameless,
who does what is righteous,
who speaks the truth from their heart;

3 whose tongue utters no slander,
who does no wrong to a neighbor,
and casts no slur on others;

4 who despises a vile person
but honors those who fear the Lord;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
and does not change their mind;

5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

Whoever does these things
will never be shaken.

David in Psalm 15 is talking about the sort of things that a righteous person should be in order to be pleasing God.

Commentary to Psalm 15

The scope of this short but excellent psalm is to show us the way to heaven, and to convince us that, if we would be happy, we must be holy and honest.

Christ, who is himself the way, and in whom we must walk as our way, has also shown us the same way that is here prescribed, Mt. 19:17. "If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.'

David asks Abba a question:

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?

And the wonderful thing is: Abba does not ignore David.

I can remember asking Abba questions and I want Him to speak immediately. I have been very impatient and I have longed for His answer; haven't you?

Then, when it seems as if Abba has not heard me, I have been tempted to feel a little disheartened.

I have then listened to the sermons of Pastor David Wilkerson and his words have so encouraged me. I remember when he shared how he came to an understanding that he harboured unbelief in his heart. So, he confessed this sin. He said: Forgive me for my sin of unbelief, fill me with the gift of faith to believe in Your scriptures, in Jesus' name amen.

Pastor David said he prayed the prayer each day until he knew his heart was filled with faith to believe and all the doubts had vanished.

I thought his prayer was a wonderful one and I decided to pray the same prayer myself.

Going back to Psalm 15. Abba said:

Do you desire a pure heart?

Do desire a gentle, humble spirit?

Do You desire to be filled with Abba's love for others?

I do.

David asks:

1 Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
Who may live on your holy mountain?

Abba answers:

4 who despises a vile person

What do you think of Abba's answer to David?

I thought we were not meant to despise anyone?

Sometimes I read the bible and I have little questions like the above, do you?

What do you think of Psalm 15:4. If Abba says: we are to despise a vile person; should we?

Jesus said Love your enemies, bless and pray for them.

Psalm 16 New International Version (NIV)

1 Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.


2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”

3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.
I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names on my lips.


5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.

6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.

Psalm 16 is a happy Psalm. Verse 11 is very inspiring.

The Commentary for Psalm 16

Saul was trying to kill David. David ran away to the woods, the hills and the fields. He hid there from Saul. 400 men went with David. Saul had 3000 soldiers.

Saul was king of Israel. One night Saul and all his men slept. David came near in the night and took some things from Saul. David did not kill Saul.

In the morning David told Saul, "It was easy to kill you but I did not. What have I done wrong? You sent me away from my own country. You told me to find other gods. Why?" It was probably at this time that David wrote Psalm 16

Verse 8 is an inspiring verse from Psalm 17.

I agree there. I also like verse 5 as well

Verse 8 of Psalm 16 speaks to me in my current situation:

I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

And Verse 8 of Psalm 17 is my prayer:

Keep me as the apple of your eye;
hide me in the shadow of your wings

Commentary to Psalm 17

Somebody wanted to kill David. It was probably King Saul. He was like a hungry lion. (verse 12)

Here are some words from 1 Samuel 23:25-26. 'Saul chased David in the wild country near Maon. David ran away. David was afraid of Saul. Saul and his soldiers were all round David. They were ready to kill him'.

What happened next? A message came to Saul. It said, 'We need you to fight the Philistines. Come and give us help'. So Saul left David and went away.

God answered the words that David prayed.
