Anyone ever seen one of these~shiba inu. Some little Japanese breed. I was in two homes that had one~almost cat-like dog (that's a compliment from this catlover), intelligent, neither ever barked, but just watched me work like it knew what it was doing. I've never really been drawn by dogs, but this breed has caught my eye.
this is weird. We have never heard of this breed of dog before, hubby and I were walking through the mall...and they had a calandar place..with this breed on the calander..we stopped and looked at it and said..what a neat looking dog! NOW you posted a pic of one! Within 2 days..that is neat. MAYBE I should be looking for one??

My mind just boggles at how people just cannot receive the gospel as it is. I cannot understand "finding your own path" etc. I cannot comprehend this. Apostasy is here, been here, and we will not see it end until Jesus reigns here on Earth. :sigh:

As far as evangelicalism goes, it still is a "find your own path" situation. I've been a Christian for 20 years as of Nov 15, and ya know what? Some days I feel as bewildered now as I did way back then. This church says this and that one says that, but with "Sola Scriptura" it's still basically up to us to forge that path ahead by looking at the bible and figuring it out for ourselves, with the help of whatever denomination or historical figure you think might be right. And all these pastors will tell ya about "staying in God's will" and while they are genuine about it, I don't think they really get it~

And so if people look at the gospel, then look at the myriad of churches in all its strange and often contradictory forms, is it any wonder that they think maybe they need to find their own path when christians telling them the real path can't find their butt with both hands? It's a freakin' fiasco, and the heathen can see it more clearly than we can.

The Orthodox folks seem to be making more and more sense...

I agree Lisa. I "found my own path" and made such a mess of everything that I had to call out to God for rescue.
*thud*

But, to teach it as truth!!! That is what I cannot get over. The truth is silenced. The lie is proclaimed as truth.

I'm not sure I understand. Sure, there are heretics and the merely heterodox around today, but haven't there always been? Do not the vast majority of Christian churches teach at least the basics that all reasonably orthodox Christians agree on, the stuff C.S. Lewis called "Mere Christianity"? I mean, I'm pretty sure I could walk into any random church in my neighborhood, and whatever else I found, odds are very good I'd find at least that. Let's see, within a couple miles of my home: there's an Orthodox church, a Catholic church, a UMC Methodist, a couple of ELCA Lutheran, a PCUSA Presbyterian, an Evangelical Covenant church, a AOG church (mine), a Foursquare church, a Mars Hill church, a Berean church, a church of the Nazarene and a Vineyard. Some are more liberal or more fundamentalist than I'd like, some are more or less traditional than my taste, but I think you can find the Gospel of Christ in any of them, and I wouldn't call any of them heretics.

Part of the deal imo is, TRUTH IS SIMPLE. What I see happening is people are wanting "new truth" and "new revelations" to spice things up in their spiritual lives, so they seek all this fancy teaching and funky stuff instead of meditating on the Word of God that we have.

Meditating on God's word is often what God uses to speak to us privately in my own personal experience.

We seek PEOPLE instead of the Holy Spirit for our understanding & wisdom - and for our personal counsel. I think we've put way too much reliance in people.

I know there's lots more to it, but each little bit helps create what we currently have. But God is able to lead us into His truth thru His word.

I hear you, I think this verse sums it up pretty well:

Colossians 2:8
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

I ain't touchin' it...maybe pm Lisa about it but I'm just stayin' away.

Water under the bridge (or is it over it?), whatever the cliche is. I don't want to rehash. It is just plain too (again, searching for proper way of describing it), I don't know. Just tired of it all.

I got a lot better things to do with my life than worry about a forum that I helped found, write rules, modded for, fought for, protested for, and then found myself completely unwelcome in. Whatever!

Lisa had actually typed that all out in a thread in CC somewhere - maybe she has the link to it.

It's alot to get into & that's why I don't have it in me to go back all thru that 1 month nitemare. I only wish it happened after seeing Lee's changes becuz had I known what Lee was going to do, I probly wouldn't of bothered 'fighting' for the forum.
Alot of good people ended up leaving anyways & I can't blame them (incl. the oppressive probation over everyone that caused some to leave or lose interest there)

In the end, when alot of the people that I hung out with most ended up leaving, it just lost something there for me & some people I had "issues' with stayed, so it ended up being a forum I felt alienated from in the end & isn't what it was when I joined & had fun there.
