There should be just one Barrel now.

I'm wondering if we might have a Librarian (another mod, or perhaps with just duties/permissions in the Athanasius subforum) that can keep things tidied up, in the right threads, prune out chaff off topic to the thread in question etc.

I was an assistant librarian at our university. Could I help?

It all started because yours truly made a post in the Saints thread that only answered a question with no On Topic content. Rather than move the post to the common Trash Bin forum (where us mods dump those offensive posts we delete) I created a single thread here to put them in. It is only for our house keeping of the Athanasius subforum. I thought it might be nice so we could have some well organized and tidy FAQs/refereneces. It of course will NOT be used for the usual moderating WRT CF rules. I called it the Burn Barrel because more than likely it might at some time have 'Holy Things' in it :) (a duplicate post of the writings of a Saint fer' instence' )

Chris, you are trying to be rational with something that is not rational. Life is not so neat that threads will stay on topic, because in conversation one thing leads to another, divisions are arbitrary and serve really no purpose. We are members of no organized religion we are ORTHODOX!

This would only be for the FAQs/reference threads in the subforum to be. Certainly not for the main forum which would be for conversational threads. And it may not be a good or useful idea, just playing around with ideas ...

Thanks Photini

Why don't the two of you decide amongst yourselves how you want to split up the work at the Chapel (research, editing, perhaps copyright requests etc.) I'll take care of squaring this with staff, requesting a sub-forum, taking blame etc. :)

There are two questions which are begging answers in the above thread on questions.

Briefly:

#1 Could we have an additional subforum: Cloud of Witnesses, where we can post individual threads on the Saints?

#2 Could we please have a new thread (for St. Athanasius Chapel) where we can list the deceased like the OBOB does? (see their chapel)

#1: This sounds like a good idea, I want to make sure that we don't have orphaned subforums that become dead after time. Maybe if they are active enough in the Athanasius forum.

#2: Yes, make one and I will stick it.

We need to keep in mind that we do not want to 'bury' things in a subfora that are expedient up top at the parent TAW forum (Andreas' example a few days earlier comes to mind, though I forget the topic :o )

Dear Chris,

If we have a thread on St. John of San Francisco, and another one of the Holy Saints of Russia. These threads could be buried in our regular forum. Yet would they be appropriate for the Chapel? That is why I think we need yet another subforum just for individual saints.

Or could you transfer them to the Cloud of Witnesses subforum when they have been dormant for a few days?

I do think it is probably a good idea, in retrospect it is not so much the frequency of posting but the number of like threads. IOW, if we have a few dozen (which I think we will, and they are all of like content (lives of the saints), we can probably justify a subforum at the same level as the Athanasius subforum.

No silly, this is for dummies that post off topic posts in Writings of the Saints' threads :) Plus I wanted to have a scratch pad for moving stuff around all our bookstore items.
Am I that dummie you're referring to? LoL! Maybe i'm not the ideal person for the job after all...:)
