  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I had to go with #4 although I'm inclined to agree with the "none of the above" as well. the reason I voted #4 is because the Holy Spirit manifested in the form of a dove, then tongues of fire at pentecost. Jesus has taken on numerous "forms" or "bodies" ~ Theres a verse (Don't have it offhand) that says "Jesus appeared in another form to them." On the mount of Transfiguration Jesus took on a different appearance. In Revelation he appears in an awesome form, different yet from the others. And he walked the earth as a man, appearing no different than you or I.
Although Scripture states no man has seen God at any time (I'm presuming this means God in His totality and all glory) we do have Moses encounter of Gods "back parts", we have Ezekiel chapter 1, and Isaiah chapter 6, which while there are similarities, there are also differences.
I am not saying they are all the same person as Oneness believers say. I believe Father, Son, and Holy Spirit can manifest simultaneously as God wills it, such as at Jesus baptism, with the 3 manifesting what appears to be separately (Voice from heaven, dove descending, and Jesus in the water) but yet they are still One God.

It would appear, CharlesB, that the Messianic movement rejects the doctrine of the Trinity, then? But perhaps I have missunderstood your post.
I would appear that way, however, appearances are not always as they seem. If I have understood correctly from the little time I have spent in the Messianic forum, the Messianic believes there is ONE God. . .the same as you and I believe. God is Spirit. God was the Spirit in the human body of Yeshua. Holy Spirit is God in the believer and moves on the hearts of men to bring them to Yeshua. One God.

Charles, please correct me if I've worded that poorly. :)

Enoch,
How do you get "a little lower than God" from that passage? In verse 9 it says He was made "a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death..."

"Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they." Heb. 1:4

How can Jesus be "lower than God"? He is God!

"For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power." Col. 2: 9-10
"For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell." Col. 1:19

In response to the "poll" I choose none of the above! To be brief, I basically believe God is a spirit who chose to die for all mankind's sins so He wrapped Himself in human flesh as Jesus, demonstrated His power on earth, and was crucified. He sent the Comforter or Holy Spirit to dwell with us and fill us because He must leave earth and go back to Heaven. He can reveal Himself any way He chooses and has proven that numerously in the Bible. And there is only one throne w/one God in heaven. (John 4:2) I think this is all that really matters. I don't waste my time with all the debating and theories on exactly what the Godhead consisted of in the beginning, while Jesus was on earth, etc. There are thousands of opinions. These are mysteries that will be revealed one day. For now, we have to accept by faith that God can be Father and Son simulatneously, be omnipresent and operate as the Holy Spirit on earth, yet dwell in heaven. He is Father, Son, and Spirit, yet He is one. Does it make sense? No. Will it one day? Yes.

The vers. is taken from Ps. 8-5,6 I think you need to read it and ask the monks who wrote it wrong in Heb. your question.
