I had a miserable day today. I'm so relieved it's finally over.

There is no encouragement for me right now, Oye. My uncle passed away this morning. He finally lost his battle against cancer. I'm really sad right now. I was having a bad day to begin with, before my mother called me this afternoon and told me.

That`s extremely tough. I`ve been touched by my share of death, friends and family. The hardest part is the finality of it all.

He was my mother's oldest brother. My relatives on her side of the family don't get along well as it is. This has been a real tough day, for me and for my mom.

As far as I know, he was not saved. I tried more than once to talk to him about God, salvation, where he would spend eternity, but he was resistant.

I don't know if he got his heart right with God before he passed or not.

That of course makes it a lot more tough. I have a friend who is a Baptist minister who has done many funerals for people who showed no evidence of a walk with the Lord. He says "with these you can`t preach them into heaven nor can you preach them out." Who knows what happens at or near the end. For example the thief on the cross, at the end all he did was say in so many words "hey lay off the guy" and "Lord will you remember me?" That is very simple, very basic while significant that in a single moment he gave up his rebellion. There is nothing to confirm that your uncle didn`t have a similar moment. Perhaps he did.

Unfortunately, I'm not feeling any better. I did not sleep well at all last night.
