So... just a fun thread to discuss the theory of the show.

Do you think this will ever be something that is reality (bionic rather than prosthetic limbs)?

Do you think it infringes on our "humanity"?

Would you get one voluntarily?

What would you do if it was done without your consent?

Any other thoughts?

I think it would be a great thing if it was used for good e.g. for those who had some form of paralysis or an amputee. Who knows with technology these days if it would be possible. Personally, it's not something I would want.

As far as the show goes, I'll probably try and catch the first episode. It's one of those shows IMO that's going to be either really good or really bad.

I'm looking forward to it. I don't know how good it will be. The actress is British so if she sounds weird the first few episodes that's why. She'll catch on soon enough. She's on that new show on BBC America called Jekyll. I haven't seen it, but it looks interesting.

Back to the OP I really believe that if the technology was out there and available to all (or those who could afford it) that people would cut off (or out) their own body parts to have special ones attached. I think if were available it would become a problem. Think about the show The 4400. People take this shot to get special abilities and 50% of them die, yet they do it anyway. I don't think it would be any different in real life.
As for people having it done to them without consent, I don't have an opinion on that yet. I think whoever did it to them would feel as if they owned them because (as in the show) they would have died otherwise. I'll get back to that later...maybe.

I saw a sneak preview of this one and thought it was okay. They have a lot of potential - and I do love the reimagining idea (it's the same team who did Battlestar Galactica and I LOVE that!) but I hope that it gets a little deeper than it did in the Pilot. Katee Sackhoff (plays Starbuck on BSG) is excellent though. She SHINES in this series - far outshines the lead actress. I wasn't thrilled with her yet.

That said, I'm not giving up on it - I just have a lot of hope!

I saw some "behind the scenes" and a trailer for it before a movie one day. It looks like it would be interesting. Apparently it is going to be very different from the original. I have my TiVo set to record it, but plan on watching it when it is on, instead of waiting until later to watch it.

I watched it. It was good, but it wasn't great. There were some things that I thought were unnecessary. I'll give it a couple more episodes before I make a final decision.
Same here - got to watch it finally today (taped) and I will give it one or two epsidoes to decide if I will keep waching it.
