does such a thing exist (outside of the Bible)? Has anyone written down and compiled what is considered sinful. I ask because I'm interested in comparing what I consider human nature to what the Good Book considers sin. I am also interested in what things that I do or don't do in my life that would apply. I know about the seven and breaking the Ten Commandments. What else do you guys consider bad mojo? Thank you in advance for your replies and help.

The crux of the matter is:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your mind, and with all your soul and with all strength"
and
"Love your neighbour as yourself".

Sin is just a technical word for everything that falls short of that, and commands, 'lists of sins' and whatever are commentary upon them. Trying to list all the sins is kind of missing the point (and so, arguably, a sin in itself :p ).

Christianity isnt about listing a load of stuff that one shouldn't do. It's about recognising what one should do, recognising when one falls short of that, and recognising that Christ has dealt with that once and for all.

  • ithm, dhulam, fujur, su, fasad, fisk, kufr: wickedness and depravity (Suras 2:99, 205; 4:50, 112, 123, 136; 12:79; 38:62; 82:14)
  • shirk: ascribing a partner to God (Sura 4:48)

This golden rule encompasses so many things, including offenses that aren't listed in the Bible. As Ebia said, Christianity isn't about the rules, but it helps us turn our attitudes around to be more considerate of each other.

If you're studying your own life, think about ethics. Look at the ripple waves out from each action.

If you take home office supplies from work, it might not seem to make a dent. But when it comes time for the budget review, so much is spent on office supplies that a needed item gets passed by again. Or others see you taking things home, and decide to do it for themselves. Or you get blacklisted, and can't support your family.

Or neglect... you hear a child tell you that their parent locked them out of the house the night before. You could react with judgment, skepticism, denial, or any number of ways. But if you don't investigate further, you may later find a whole pile of abuse that was behind the statement. It's not clearly written out as a sin, but it comes awfully close!

It's the heart of the law that we try to concern ourselves with. Caring about the people around you.

I would imagine not, as Sin is a purely biblical concept.

There would be Cultural laws, or Criminal Laws, that would contain moral and immoral standings, things along those line, like Hammurabi's Code of Laws.

But a list of "Sins" outside the Bible, I do not think exists.

Maybe a list of Sins, as contained in the Bible, like This Link, for example, might be a place to start.

However, I have found that some or even many of these "Lists" were complied by Non-Christains, so the validity and authenticity of them is highly in Question.

Maybe a site like This, Might help you find what you are looking for.

This is a study in Sin, a list of the Sins as they are found in the Bible.

However, I have not taken the time to look at the list myself, so, you would then need to validate each sin as it is listed to ind out if what they have provided is in truth a sin as per the bible.

Here are the Verses in the BIble which compile a lists of sins, and "natures" of sin. Remember that sin was not natural to man at first, but over time became nature because man is of the flesh- nature does not justify the action.

Ga 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Ga 5:20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
