  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Would I, born a year after this movie was released in 1983, likely enjoy this film? The basic story sounds good but everything I've read about this mentions "Baby Boomers" so is this a very generation specific film?

Hmmmm ...it seems to me that just because you were born after the story took place, or even long before it took place shouldn't be the determining factor on whether you like a movie or not. In the case of this one...probably the baby boomers can relate to it better and, frankly, I didn't think the story was all that great. The acting was good, but not enough to make it a fine film. There are those who just love it...(like my own daughter), but she is a baby boomer so your point is well taken there.

And many really praise American Grafitti who were not of that generation. It was just good and appeals to everyone even though it is about the sixty's generation and launched such greats as Richard Dreyfus and Harrison Ford.

Also it is interesting in that Kevin Costner had a small part in The Big Chill..He played the corpse in the beginning of the film, but you never get to see him--because they cut out the flashbacks in which he appeared. Just as well cause he was destined for better flicks. :)

I'm not in the target audience of the film, that's why I was asking.
