The Big Book

When I first started participating in AA, I did not get much out of the Big Book. It was mostly jibberish to me. That was 19 years ago. Today, it is a lifeline for me. I appreciate it very much.

I just want to encourage any newcomers to read the Big Book for themselves. For me, Chapter 5 was the easiest and most important for starting out. Whereever you start, just read it.

For me Madison just like the bible, the big book can be confusing or I just didn't get it at first. And then it moves from my head to my heart and I get it, and try to apply it.

I am similar. I tend to read a chapter, not necessarily in any order. A lot of times my sponsor recommends chapters to me. Kind of like the Bible.

But don't read it like a novel, study it like a textbook. It really does work. If anyone just finds it jibberish, and needs help, please PM me. I would be happy to help make it understandable.
