  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Now researchers working in Egypt and Canada have proposed a new model with a much simpler idea of the beginning of the universe…Using the corrected equation to fit Einstein's theory of general relativity, the researchers came up with a model that implies that the Big Bang singularity never happened.

The biggest problem with the Big Bang theory is that none of the equations that explain what happened in the singularity can take us all the way back to the moment the singularity actually, er, happened…The new model moves away from the "expanding universe" theory. It also sidesteps the matter of the universe's previous infinite size and density, which the paper calls the "smallness problem," by relying on a "cosmological constant" term that puts the universe at a finite size. In other words, instead of originating from a single point in a singularity, the universe has simply always been around…The model also avoids utilizing the theoretical existence of Dark Energy.

I have come to realize that scientists have no confidence or conviction about anything. They only have reasonable assumptions, and one reasonable assumption is eventually replaced by another reasonable assumption. In the mean time, reality can take a hike.

Lawrence Krauss commented on Facebook about this article saying:

"To all who asked. I have looked at "No Big Bang' article that has been getting attention in various media sites. It doesn't make sense to me. For example: cosmo constant 'prediction' is simply put in by hand.. getting the 'correct' answer today by choosing the observed value today as input.. and giving the wrong answer at earlier times. As for BB singularity.. again seems to me that it is a case of knowing what one wants, and inputing it into the model.. certainly can't address the singularity problem without a full quantum theory."

Basically, he's saying what their claiming in their paper just doesn't fly.

'Reality' in science, is mind dependent. In other words, empirically based models give meaning to the term 'reality'.

There is no rational basis for defining it any other way.

Thus, in science, it is not possible for that 'reality' to simply 'take a hike'.

There is no place for it to 'hike' to.

Cheers

Big Bang: How Did the Universe Begin?

A near death experiencer was shown something very much along the line of the Cyclic Model of the universe as Stephen Hawking Ph. D. wrote about in "Stephen Hawking's Universe," chapter 13.

Mellen Benedict, near-death.com

"When I say that I could see or perceive forever, I mean that I could experience all of creation generating itself. It was without beginning and without end. That's a mind-expanding thought, isn't it? Scientists perceive the Big Bang as a single event which created the universe. I saw that the Big Bang is only one of an infinite number of Big Bangs creating universes endlessly and simultaneously. The only images that even come close in human terms would be those created by supercomputers using fractal geometry equations."

There is no place for it to 'hike' to.

It can hike up to the theo-rational.

But it won't.

Instead, it is going to run away and leave most of its adherents standing before God at the Great White Throne Judgement.

Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
