Like many I don't believe that there is a best game - so I'll just name a few favourites.

Doom 2 - Added so much to the FPS genre. Great solo, addictive multiplayer ( including the co-op mode ), so prevelant that my university put a specific warning out about people playing it across their servers.

Starcraft - I haven't found a RTS since that has 3 sides with such diverse units and yet such perfect balance.

SubSpace - SubWhat ? I agree it's not widely known but it should be. Set up to test massive multiplayer concepts almost 10 years ago and still going strong. Some of the mods are amazing ( especially the Metal Gear mod ) and the longevity and entertainment from what is essentially a 2-D top-down scrolling game is nothing short of amazing.

Well I grew up playing the original Nintendo and my favorite was Mario ....I was so good that I could make it through every round all the way through twice without being killed once. I love the old Zelda but haven't played any of the news ones ....we just recently bought a Playstation but I haven't had the chance to play it much.

I spend most of my free time in pyramids on yahoo where I help run a league and play in trnys and stuff.

Come on people, Super Mario World and Zelda: Ocarina of Time are the best games of all time!

I've owned OOT since the year it was released, and I've tried playing it a number of times. I can never really get into it. It's my second least favorite of the Zelda games I've played (Adventure of Link being my least liked of all) - I like the original NES one, SNES one, and GB one (Link's Awakening, haven't played the quasi-two other games).

At this point, I would say my all-time favorite game is still probably Battletoads for the NES.
