  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I can respect that some people aren't very fond of the style of music The Beatles have but I think it is INCREDIBLY hard to say that you don't even appreciate some of the stuff they put out, especially since so many of their songs are so different. For example, none of these songs sound anything alike:

My point is that having liking The Beatles as a prerequisite for having good taste in music is an elitist mindset, and I should hope that Christians (especially ones who are older and more mature) would try to avoid such ways of thinking.

You pick one song, Yellow Submarine and judge all their music on that song?? It is just a fun song! Yes, it might be "fluff." But what is the point?

Their album, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" is pure genius! And, if you really want to hear some great music, give a listen to the recently released Let It Be Naked cd. This cd is the original recording, without all the strings and other inhancements that Phil Spector added.
