  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is a new movie that stars Leonardo di Caprio. My husband and I went to see this movie tonight because it got good reviews.

On a scale of 0 to 10, I'd give this movie a -10. It is filled with extreme profanity using all the profain words one can imagine. Also, they take God's name in vain multiple times.

I don't know about others, but I do not like movies that take God's name in vain. It breaks my heart. I should've just walked out, but I didn't and endured nearly 3 hours of this. I'm so sorry I did. Lord, please forgive me.

I felt just as ashamed while sitting through it. I couldn't believe the amount they said GD, it was more than I have heard in a movie in a very long time. I believe one website I went to after see the movie said there were at least 40 uses of GD. Honestly, the amount of trash in that movie should have gave it an R rating. If there were 40 uses of the F word it would have been rated R but when it's GD it's not? I just don't get that, it's tragic. The story itself and the acting was amazing but I just couldn't get past the trash in the movie. Sad sad sad.

As sad as I am to say it I think that's the way things are going....especially over this side of the pond. Many people here take the Lords name in vain in everyday conversation. It's such a common thing that no one bats an eyelid. It's taken me ages to try and get out of that habit after growing up around people that have no problem with using His name as an expression of their frustration of disbelief in the events of their lives.

I haven't seen the movie..but I was reading an article the other day about how eccentric howard hughes was...it just cracked me up when I read that his wife took in a stray once...found she couldn't take care of him..so he sent him off to a high class feline motel where he had his own bed and t.v. and hired someone to write the cat a letter once a month....I was trying to picture myself asking my hubby if we could do that with one of our cats that has been rebelling here lately...it just made me laugh to myself...I could just see his response..he would think I lost my mind!..but, imagine the person that had to read the cat his monthly letter.:)

I couldn't agree more. I also felt ashamed watching it. It breaks my heart every time they say GD. We did end up leaving early because my husband was so uncomfortable from sitting for so long. Although the acting was incredible, the lanuaged ruined it for me. :sigh:

My husband, after we got home, found a site that lists all the types of foul language in a movie, nudity, sex, violence. I wished we'd known about this before watching the movie. Next time, we'll check this website before going to see a movie. I want to be able to have fun and enjoy a movie without worrying about all this kind of stuff.

Although I work in a secular work environment, people's langugage is pretty good. And, for those who aren't, I can request that they tone things down, and all but one person in my career has respectfully tried to observe this.

It shouldn't be the norm to hear this and I refuse to condone or accept this type of trend.

I agree. I will never accept it either.

Could you share that website that lists the foul language, nudity, violence, etc. in movies?

Thanks!
