Just to clarify, I had a long post typed up and ended up just deleting the whole thing, knowing the mods would nail me for speaking my mind out here and censor the thing anyhow. What you see there now was the result.

'What's the point' meaning what's the point in even trying to bother addressing the abuses going on with the report system anymore. Nothing has and will ever change in this place.

Thanks for that post Dean. I appreciate it.

I'll respond more in-depth tomorrow, time permitting.

Right now I just got spite-reported four times in one evening and I am NOT in the best of moods. :|

Later.
what is "spite-reported" ? I mean, is it one of the new/changes in the last couple years ?

also,
while I don't refer anyone to cf, it is too dangerous for the weak in faith,
yet if Yahweh sends you,
like Jonah to niiveh,
then simply do what Yahweh says.
who knows? someone may repent (though I have never heard of it happening in 5 years and countless queries)

Yeshua did say go and make disciples,
but that is not going to happen on a forum, especially this one.
So should you or anyone of faith be here? I don't know.

Spite reporting is when one member of CF reports another member just to try to cause trouble for that member.

Example: Sally and Ron disagree. Their words get bitter. Sally reports Ron for his bitter words. Ron then starts reporting Sally for every other post she makes, in hopes that she'll get in trouble. That's a spite report.

A scripture to consider:

2 Timothy 2:24 "And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Amen, Dean!

I really hope everyone seriously considers the scripture you posted above.

People need to think before they hit the report button.

It's good to have you on here as a moderator!

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Alas, the problems of spite reporting tend to have very deep roots.

There are some very real problems surrounding the current situation here, and some strong personalities with heartfelt beliefs and convictions.

I am hoping to be able to address not only the outer signs of these troubles, but also their roots.

This is where my position as a mod gets a little difficult. As a mod, I have promised to do my job; keep the peace and see that the rules are followed.

As a Christian, I hope for everyone to be able to work through their impasses with eachother.

Someday, maybe we'll all say a prayer together and forgive eachother for past scuffles. For that to happen, somebody is going to have to extend the olive branch of peace and somebody else is going to have to accept it.

I'd be happy to offer to broker the peace. My PM box is always open.

Maybe someday . . .

This forum is not the only one that suffers from spite reporting.

In this case, I would bet that the spite reporting that's being alluded to is between the Progressive and Traditional SDA boards as much as anything else. I've posted had conversations in the Progressive SDA board before, but never... have I tried my hand at theology with Traditional SDAs.

Dean M Ilike that text I would like to have been around when Paul and Peter got into one of there disagreements I belive that civilized people can sit and discuss a differences of belief without making it personal and because I may not agree with a person dosn't mean I have to get nasty.
