I also thought that the attention given to Brett's eating was excesive - but so was his eating. If his team had lost it would certainly have been an issue. Also, it was pointed out that he has recently lost weight and had created his own weight loss plan.

Fired by The Donald, reviled Apprentice contestant promotes all-bagel diet

Andrea Baillie, Canadian Press

Published: Tuesday, March 21, 2006
TORONTO (CP) - He was fired by Donald Trump and criticized in front of millions of TV viewers for being overweight. Now, Brent Buckman is shifting his focus from the boardroom to his belt size.

The Toronto-raised lawyer - the latest to be ousted from TV's The Apprentice - says he's lost about 60 pounds since first appearing on the popular reality show.
And he's ready to tell the world his bizarre weight loss secret: a diet of almost nothing but bagels.

"Obviously I wanted to be Mr. Trump's next apprentice, but now . . . my project is to hopefully go ahead and launch the four-bagel plan," Buckman said Tuesday in an interview from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he makes his home.

"This diet revolutionizes diets."

It contains virtually no fruits or vegetables - by design - because Buckman says he doesn't really like them.
Buckman, who is not currently working as a lawyer and "keeping all (his) options open," says he ultimately plans to market the diet, outlined at his website www.brentbuckman.com.

His bid to become a weight-loss cheerleader may come as a surprise to Apprentice viewers. On the show, the bespectacled 30-year-old was repeatedly criticized by fellow contestants as obnoxious, lazy and difficult to work with.

"You can't get along with anybody. There's not one person in this room who thinks you're even slightly good," Trump said before giving Buckman the boot on Monday night.

Buckman's girth was also a topic of discussion on the show.

Shortly before he was fired, Buckman's team told him he couldn't give a key presentation because he was overweight and didn't portray the proper image.

weight does seem to age you. I don't think just eating bagels will help you lose the pounds.

It will.

It is an old principle.

An old diet trick.

I remember the apple diet from the 1960's. The apple diet stated that you could eat all the apples you wanted, but you could only eat apples.

It worked.

Mainly, because..................

............ after several weeks of eating apples for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, etc. , you really didnt want to eat "apples" anymore so you just ate less(apples).

Ditto with the steak diet.

Without variety, you will get tired of whatever it is, and then wont want to eat very much.

YOu could write a book and start an ice cream diet, and it will work.

The guy that got fired tonight was just begging for it. He was using sarcasm with Trump and was very inappropriate.

He cant even show up for a meeting on time - for this alone, he is totally incompetent and deserved firing.

Trump was also wrong. They didnt lose because of the women who actually contributed more to their teams product/output than anyone else. Getting rid of the unproductive members (instead of the women) should have been a no-brainer. The women did the most work and were the most productive and the most creative.

Trump wanted to "pretend" to be supportive of jewish beliefs which had nothing to do with being successful in business in this particular task. Although his public catering to minority groups might gain some points in image, it did nothing to get this advertising account.

There may be more Trump "pretension" to come since Sukkot begins 5 days after Yom Kippur. :D

What and when is sukkot? Is Yom Kippur why lee took a "bye" on this week?

What if every member of both teams were jewish? HOw would they do the show?

Even though Bryce was too stupid to get to a meeting on time, he was still the best, most qualified member of that team.

Yom Kippur is the Day of Atonement, the highest set-apart day of the year, the 10th day of the 7th month on the Scriptural calendar.

Sukkot is also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, and it begins on the 15th day of the 7th month. Both the 1st and 8th days of Sukkot are also among the yearly high Sabbaths.

There are 7 of them, and instructions originally written by the hand of YHWH regarding them can be found in Leviticus 23.

Lee did not "[take] a 'bye'". He kept the commandment, as I'm sure any number of Trump and NBC board members, executives, staff and employees did.

There's no need to fear the Jews. They and others have been around keeping Torah for millennia, and yet civilization has advanced, business has gotten done and TV shows and movies have been made.

What I wanted to know is: is this other new jewish holiday next week and so is Lee going to take another "bye" next week? or when?

Trump wont knock him out/fire him until he actually participates - even though he hasnt done anything yet.

(the jews, esp those not in isreal, and in general, are among the last groups of people I would ever be afraid of - along with Quakers, Amish, etc. )

I have no idea what The Apprentice's production schedule was, but the Gregorian calendar-equivalent dates for last fall's high Sabbaths were:

Rosh Hashanah--October 4
Yom Kippur--October 13
1st of Sukkot--October 18
8th of Sukkot--October 25

There's nothing new about Sukkot. It's been kept every year for the last 3500 years or so.

Keeping a Sabbath day is not "[taking] a 'bye'". I don't think they would have had any problem doing the show "if every member of both teams were [J]ewish"--they'd probably have just done the tasks on the non-Sabbath days.

I absolutely respect these men for honoring their religious holidays under such intense scrutiny.

I think that Bryce is an extremely bright man. I believe that his value just increased! He probably knew that the odds were against him to actually become the Apprentice so he presented himself in a way that made him very appealing to employers. It's quite obvious that his team supported him and that he really did pull that team together in a way that no other PM had done.

... so Bryce, the most capable person on the team was fired by Trump, and now we have Lee who hasnt done anything, Lennie who also hasnt done a whole lot, Charmaine who booked the dirty comedian, and Tarek constantly makes mistakes.

Trump is not smart. He inherited his wealth from his father and grandfather and has been in bankruptcy more times than any other American.

Trump is lucky, knows how to borrow money, and picked rich parents - he is not smart.

I didn't care much for Bryce.

When the Arby's execs informed him that he was late for the meeting, he didn't even respond. He just paused and then went on to change the topic as if to insult the intelligence of the execs.

And in the boardroom, he was completely out of line with Trump. I don't care how dumb Trump (or your potential employer) is. You just gotta know your place.

I agree that Lee hasn't done much in the competition, but his time will come. It was a dumb move to bring Lee in.

That certainly is true. I was shocked at his attitude. It was fun to watch though. ^_^ You're right, though. It really was disrespectful.
