  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As I walked past my old town,
one Friday morning,
I passed by an apple tree,
a memorable beautiful sweet tree,
where I spend my childhood
with my best friend Tee.

Winter, summer,
spring and autumn,
we will seek refudge
near that apple tree.

We will jump,
we will run,
we will play,
both of us happily,
round the apple tree.

When we were hungry,
one of us would climb
the apple tree,
and tossed an apple down.
We share the apple,
between Tee and me.

There was no fight,
no quarrel,
and both of us happy.

Ay, such were the good times
we spent near the apple tree.
Oh, what fun, what joy,
what a fine apple tree,
if only this would last.

But children grew up,
friendship grew cold,
not everything we could share
between Tee and me.

We fell for the same girl,
and she fell for us,
all under this big, old
apple tree.

Her name was Appler,
and she loved apple,
and she couldn't decide
between Tee and me.

WE quarreled and fight,
each not giving in,
we could share an apple,
but not our dear sweet Appler.

Here under this tree,
under this very apple tree,
Saw I one day,
Tee and Appler
both kissing happily.

Appler had decided
to choose Tee,
as her partner,
not me.

Tears fell from my eyes,
I left my home town,
I could not bear to
look at this apple tree.

Ten years now gone,
I married with a wife now,
Yet Tee and I were no longer friends,
but strangers now.

Yet, this apple tree,
where we both built
and break our friendship,
was still here,
unchanging,
containing our memories,
both bitter and sweet.

Oh...I miss you, Tee
and this apple tree.
I wish we could make up
and be like we were,
like in the past,
together happily,
under this apple tree.
