The Anointed, The Unanointed, The Ex-anointed and the Anti-anointed (Sermon Notes)

I hope these bless someone. I don't mind who, just anyone.

The Anointed, The Anti-Anointed, The Ex-Anointed and The Un-Anointed.


God has given this fellowship some great promises. He has given individuals in this fellowship some great promises.



· In the O.T., there is a promised land; we have a land of promises.

· Health

· Wealth

· Destiny

· Holiness

· Acceptance in the Beloved

· All “Yes” and “Amen”



God has given you the great power to obtain great promises. The word for the power to obtain a promise is the “Anointing”.



1 John 2.27 You have all received the anointing.

Acts 10.38 Anointed to do good and heal: with power.

Acts 1.8 You shall receive power to be a witness.



The devil hates you! Hates your promises and hates your power. He is utterly opposed to the anointing on your life.



This opposition to the anointing is called the anti-anointing. Now the Greek word for anointing is christos, so the anti-anointing is the antichristos, the antichrist.



1 John 2.18 many anti-christs have appeared.



You are a Christ. You are not the Christ. Just like, you are a son of God, not the son of God. You are a king, not the King of Kings. You are a priest, not the High Priest of our confession. A shepherd is not the Good Shepherd.



We have the Christ versus the antichrist.

The Christos versus the antichristos.

The anointed versus the antianointed.



The devil is out to steal your promises and power.



1 Peter 5.8 The devil is prowling around looking for someone to devour.

The lion is an act, to try and scare you.



The antianointed is any situation, person or event that intimidates you into drawing back from using the power of God to obtain the promise of God.



The antianointed always uses fear as a weapon. Fear leads to oppression.



The promise for this church: John 14.12



Anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done.



Why? Same anointing. Same power. The reason we are not doing the works is that the anti-anointing is scaring us into not stepping out into the power.



1. David was anointed by God in 1 Samuel 16.

He was given a promise to rule the land (going back to Abraham) and the power (the anointing) to fulfill the promise.



Phenomenal day: Samuel the prophet visits the house, chooses you.

You have had a more phenomenal day: Jesus has chosen you, Jesus has visited you, Jesus has anointed you.



2. After 1 Samuel 16 is 1 Samuel 17.

Deep theological truth! After the anointing comes the attack. After the revelation comes the devil.



Mark 4: the devil comes to steal the word.



3. Goliath was the antichristos; the antianointed.

He uses his size and fear to stop anyone claiming the promised land.



Read 1 Samuel 17.1-10



4. David had to face Goliath, and we will look at that BUT:

Before you face the antianointed, you must always deal with the unanointed and the exanointed.



And still keep focused on the promise and the power.




The Unanointed



Read 1 Samuel 17.12-18, 26-30.



v. 13 Eliab and brothers bypassed by the anointing. They are unanointed.



Why? James 4.6 God’s favour is on the humble, He opposes the proud.



David: humble man: the Lord saw His heart and anointed him.

Eliab: proud man: the Lord saw His heart and bypassed him.

Was a religious man, but had a heart problem.



Definition of the Unanointed:



Christians, or churchgoers, who although they look lovely on the outside have a problem with their heart attitude. This means they have no access to the power of God. Lacking access to the power of God, they invariably become angry at those who have the power of God.



Pretty on the outside, ugly on the inside = New Testament Pharisees.



Matt. 23.27 Whitewashed tombs.



What kind of Heart Attitudes do they have?



Envy

Bitterness (Mark 11.25)

Poor theology: e.g. cessationism: the excuse for lack of faith

e.g. semi-cessationist: build memorial for the dead prophets, and stone the living prophets. (Matt. 23.29-34)

AND PART 2:


Their Problem with the Anointed:



They mistake Anointing for Arrogance.

They mistake Confidence for Conceit; and criticise and condemn.



Eliab could not see the anointing on David. Why? Fault based Christianity.



Simeon saw a baby and saw the Christ.

Pharisees saw a miracle worker cast out demons and saw the king of demons.

Pharisees have no access to the power of Jesus. So, they base their faith on their own deeds and works. Because their works are invariably imperfect, they lack confidence before God.



The Anointed do not put their faith in their own ability, but in God’s promise and His power. They are therefore humble, because they are not looking to self, but they are confident because God’s Word never fails. The Pharisee then assumes they are highly rating their ability.



e.g. Healing service at college

People confused confidence with conceit and condemned.



The Goal of the Unanointed: to stop your voice on the earth.



David: “What did I say?”



John the Baptist was a voice, not an echo. The unanointed can only echo the status quo, never voice revival in the desert, and they don’t want you to be a voice because that places a demand on them.



e.g. Prayer times and University service.



How to Deal with Unanointed: Only one solution:



1 Samuel 17.30 Walk away and go somewhere else.



(Don’t kill them!)



This is not parallel with lost sheep. Sheep get lost through distraction, not rebellion. Parallel with lost son, who got lost through rebellion. (Coin got lost through mistake of others: look for sheep, look for coin, don’t look for son). Wait for son to come to senses.



When moving on with God, people can get lost, some you can help.

There are always people who you cannot help:



1. People who don’t want help.

2. People who think they don’t have a problem.

3. People who think you are their problem.



Go where you are celebrated, not tolerated. Look for people who want your passion and your dream, not just your gift.



To the Unanointed: humble yourself under God, seek Him until He can be found, get in touch with the programme.



To the Anointed:


Be like David: walk away. Nation needs saving, Goliath needs slaughtered. Go and do it.



John the Baptist: nation needed changing; Jesus is coming. Tells the Pharisees, who told you to get right with God? Get right and live right: fruits not just religiosity. We live in the same time: nation needs changing: Jesus is coming. Get out of the way of the unanointed: we have a task.

The Exanointed

Read 1 Samuel 17.32-40

Ex-anointed: People who once had access to the power of God, achieved something great for the Lord, and subsequently lost their focus and their humble obedient heart. Therefore, they are no longer in touch with the power of God.

Many are called, few are chosen. Paul was concerned he might lose his prize (Php. 3), Samson did lose his anointing. People who do great things for God, sometimes lose the plot. You will have to deal with them.

Goal of Ex-anointed:

1. To paint you as inexperienced and magnify your problem.
You are only a boy; he is a warrior.

2. To dress you in their armour
i.e. To make you combat the problems they refuse to combat using the methodology they refuse to employ. If Saul’s armour is so good, why wasn’t Saul in it?

They are frightened of David succeeding. They knew the anointing, they can see it in you. They are not afraid of you failing, they are afraid of you succeeding. Their goal is not the Lord, it is their powerbase. The very powerbase the Lord helped them build.

How to Deal with the Ex-anointed

Key: Respect. You must always respect leaders, no matter what.

1. Refuse to belittle your own success
v.34-37 I killed the lion, I killed the bear.
e.g. George’s healing, Derek’s healing, Bible College.

2. Focus on the Lord
v.37 is the first time Jehovah is used in this chapter.
Realise you are a covenant person: God’s blood brother.

3. Use what works for you!
Don’t go to battle enemies with ill-fitting armour.


The Anti-Anointed

How to Defeat the Anti-Anointed:

Key: once you have dealt with the unanointed and ex-anointed, and kept in faith and love, this bit is easy!

1. Come at it in the name of the Lord Almighty.
Don’t do it in your name!

2. Use smooth stones to defeat enemy.
Stones come from the Rock: the Word.
Smoothed by the river: the Spirit is the river.
Spirit filled meditation is the key.

Any situation: find 5 Scripture promises and meditate them over and over and over again until they are smooth. Then launch it at the problem.

3. Don’t stop when the giant falls, finish him off.
Stay in Word after the manefestation. Cut off head: source of thoughts. People will show you favour and not know why.
