  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As I've witnessed, many threads come and go, but could it be possible that we could keep a thread active without it finding its way to the archives of forgotten threads?

I would like this thread to be all about Jesus. Let's keep it active by sharing with each other how the Lord is moving in our lives. Share your experiences, prayers, poems, blessings, anything that has to do with Jesus let's share it here!

Let's not turn this thread into an argument, or debate, but let's just talk about Jesus!

Can we do that? Can we keep this thing alive?

Let's talk about Jesus!

A nice lady named Mrs. White once wrote, "It is our privilege to maintain a calm repose in God. Forgetting our own difficulties and troubles, let us praise God for an opportunity to live for the glory of His name. Let the fresh blessings of each new day awaken praise in our hearts for these tokens of His loving care. When you open your eyes in the morning, thank God that He has kept you through the night. Thank Him for His peace in your heart. Morning, noon, and night, let gratitude as a sweet perfume ascend to heaven."

And, I agree with her.

She went on to say, "When someone asks how you are feeling, do not try to think of something mournful to tell in order to gain sympathy. Do not talk of your lack of faith and your sorrows and sufferings. The tempter delights to hear such words. When talking on gloomy subjects, you are glorifying him. We are not to dwell on the great power of Satan to overcome us."

Again, wise words. She actually went on to say there that when we complain abuot such things, we can sometimes even give ourselves over to the power of Satan.

So, "Let us talk instead of the great power of God to bind up all our interests with His own. Tell of the matchless power of Christ, and speak of His glory."

Amen.

I think that the thread is a great effort. And my response is on no way a rebuke toward Payattention, his earnestness is a real blessing.

That said, let us make a joyful noise - for we are children of the King. Praise the LORD. I hope this post was a blessing brothers and sisters. Let's praise Him.

But you don't think that a thread wherein we can share God's blessings with each other can at least serve to encourage us while we're stuck in this miserable existence?

Already, you've disrespected me! Did you not read the part in the thread wherein I said I didn't want this to be a debate or an argument?

And yet your very first post is already argumentative. And I even asked you after that not to do this, and tey you put up another post that is just as argumentative!

Why do you do this?
My commiserations, Woo
Have a look at all the threads so far on this SDA forum and you'll find that the ones where theological debates dominate, and sink to lows where insults are flung, personal attacks waged are the most viewed and most replied to generally and the ones where ponderance of the love of our saviour is encouraged does not appeal.
Is this a manifestation of a particular dominant mindset.
This is so sad....:sigh: Sorry to go slightly off topic re your original post

And this is why we need to do all that we can to keep this thread alive!

There will be times when people will be discouraged because of personal attacks, and for other reasons of course; and this thread will serve them well in being a place that they can count on, to receive a message that has the potential to bring joy back into their hearts.

You never know what impact a post can have on a person's life when he's going through a hard time. So, feel free to share any blessing that you want!

There actually came a day that I dared through my life away, discard it like it was worthless. The prayers of a little sister, who had only the vaguest notion of who and what God is, saved me from certain death.

But my life has value. So much value that the son of God would have died instead of me - even if it was just me. The son of God. I can't fathom it sometimes.

And then, after I so carelessly threw that life away, He picked it up and put it in my hands and blessed it. He gave me my family back. He gave me my wife. He reached out and gave me His Word. And now He has given me my daughter.

I am the richest man you know. ;)
Thank you O LORD. Thank you Jesus.

This is a really nice quote that I'd like to share with all of you. It's from a book that I highly recommend, called Communion With God.

"If we keep the Lord ever before us, allowing our hearts to go out in thanksgiving and praise to Him, we shall have a continual freshness in our religious life.

Our prayers will take the form of a conversation with God as we would talk with a friend. He will speak His mysteries to us personally.

Often there will come to us a sweet joyful sense of the presence of Jesus. Often our hearts will burn within us as He draws nigh to commune with us as He did with Enoch.

When this is in truth the experience of the Christian, there is seen in his life a simplicity, a humility, meekness, and lowliness of heart, that shows to all with whom he associates that he has been with Jesus and learned of Him.":amen:

I think this is a wonderful idea Woo. All the fighting in here is why I have stayed away for so long. I far prefer to Praise my Lord and tell of the good things He has given me. I also love to hear testimonies because it encourages me when I am down. This spiritual battle we are all engaged in sometimes leaves us battle-fatigued. And so it's really nice to hear how God has helped others thru similar battles and temptations.

2Tim--how strange that you would post that word from Ms. White about praising God each day for a restful night. I have done that very thing for years. Not knowing that she wrote that, but just because it was in my heart to do so. For about the past year now, I have found that the majority of my prayers is not asking God for things, but thanking Him for those things that He has already done.

Some day soon, I am going to add to this post a most amazing story of how God has worked for a certain young person that I know. But I have to wait to see how the story will end. Please pray that it ends in a good way for this person.

I want to give Him thanks for sparing my daughter gall bladder surgery today. She's been in severe pain for 4 days and then today she had a terrible episode of faintness, tachycardia and tingling hands. As I raced to her house--crying and pleading with the Lord to touch and preserve her--her husband had come back home and was rushing her to the hospital. But once there, she had began to feel better. The blood and urine tests were negative. So I know that God indeed had intervined. So she will resume the herbs and fruits she started and the gall bladder will heal per Gods methods. Praise the Lord.
This is the one thing that we can depend upon--God's Word--His Promises are sure. "Try me--test me--He says", and alas!! He is true to His word. For He cannot lie! Oh, what a friend we have in Jesus--ALL our sins and griefs to bear-what a priveledge to carry--EVERYTHING to God in prayer. Amen

Thank you for sharing this with us. Brothers and sisters in Christ, let's all say a prayer for Olik's daughter, that the Lord will give her strength, and healing!

I have some awesome things to share that God has been doing in my life. The first thing I haven't really had an opportunity to put into words and share with someone, and I am tearing up a little even now as I say it. God is so awesome! I have not been on the best terms with my family over the past few years. There have been a lot of major issues that have put a great chasim between me and them. I have tried hard as well to point them all back to God. Yet my efforts have been fruitless. There was even a time in highschool where I had to call everyone I could think of on Sabbath morning to find a ride to church. God has been working on my heart and softening it, however and over the past couple of weeks, I have for the first time had telepohne conversations with my mother without even getting frustrated! It's amazing! GOd is increadible!

He has also been making his leading clear in my life and I have made some changes in my major and career path. I'm looking forward to doing much lay ministry and working with my fiance, doing public relations for his business a little more than part time. Isn't GOd so awesome!! Praise the Lord!!

What a great thread!
May I share a few of the wonderful things Jesus has done for me.
Yes, its not about what I have done for Him, although many times I'm tempted to boast about it. Its all about Him. All about Jesus. He has given me life. A new life is mine. That is why at the cross I will stay. He rid me of all the things I thought helps me in my walk with him and asked me to just abide in Him and all things will fall into place. I worried about whether I really was saved. I dont anymore. I know He will keep me, as un worthy and rotten as I am. He promises to finish the good thing He has started in me. Thank you Jesus. I fail Him daily, yet He never fails me. This may sound like a sermon, I'm sorry.
I cannot wait for the day I will dissapoint Him no more.
That is my greatest wish...to dissapoint my saviour no more.
May God richly bless you all as He has me.

Jonno,

Thank you for sharing this with us! And please do share with us more of how the Lord is showering you with His manifold blessings.

And if you have any prayer requests make them known too so that we can offer up our prayers on your behalf.

here's the way i feel about my Christ after he totally changed my life and gave me a reason to believe in Him and in a better life. maybe some will think it's nice, some will think it's lame, and others will see what it really means.

i have no mayor,
i have no governor,
and i have no president!
i have only one King!
and His name is Jesus!
i owe allegiance to no one.
not to a flag,
not to a country
not to any government!
only to the One who owns me!
and His name is Christ.
i am not a patriot!
i am not 'american'!
i will not give up my life for any nation!
I AM A CHRISTIAN! and my life belongs to God.
And for my Redeemer and only Him will i give up my life!

God Bless!
