  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've seen previews and I know I'll not be seeing... I *think* the main character is a virgin because he's geeky and hasn't found anybody to have sex with, not because he's saving himself for marriage... though I could be wrong... I wasn't totally paying attention to the preview when I saw it...

ETA: Here's the Plugged-In Online review of the movie: http://www.pluggedinonline.com/movies/movies/a0002295.cfm

Ok I'll admit I saw it. I could have definitely gone without seeing it, as I recommend to everyone. Surprisingly and ironically, the main character doesn't have sex with the girl he meets and falls in love with, until AFTER they are married. A rare thing in Hollywood these days. That being the only redeeming trait of the movie, it's crass, silly and not spiritually uplifting, and can definitely lead males especially, into temptation and sin, as there are some raunchy scenes.

So don't see it unless you feel like testing how much you want to see you can resist temptation.
